1. Best thing in the demo?

TD St. Matthew-Daniel -
The player models, hands down. PES 2011 probably has the best depiction of real-life athletes I've seen in a video game. The faces are well crafted and jerseys wrinkle and reshape naturally depending on the player's movement.

Christian McLeod - I completely agree with TD in that the player models in PES 2011 are simply outstanding. For as impressive as that "other soccer game" demo was, the player models always seemed a bit on the malnourished side. Just as TD said, based on the demo, PES 2011 looks to feature some of the most realistic player models to ever be included in a sports video game.

Im not sure this even makes much a difference. That is just how Fifa plays. I doubt by release they have completely revamped how teams play. They've spent the whole off season creating Personality+ for players, but they should've also done some kind of Personality+ for how teams actually play. And what makes it even worse is Personality+ doesn't even make players play like their real life counter parts, its just shows how good they are at shooting and passing. Personality+ doesn't make Ronaldo take on defenders and do a bunch of stepovers. Instead Ronaldo does the same moves everyone else does.

But I like Fifa though so don't think Im bashing it, Im just sayin'.

I agree with you but I am just addressing some of his issues like the game is too easy to take the ball away from the defense etc.....

Purely from an aesthetic point of view FIFA looks like soccer whereas PES feels like soccer.
I disagree completely. In any Professional game I always look for player authenticity, differentiation between teams/clubs, and realisitc outcomes. I didn't get any of these with FIFA '10. Maybe that will change with the retail version of FIFA but I can't really tell off the demo yet. The AI last year in FIFA '10 was so predictable and just didn't make sense. For example lower sides would all out pressure much better clubs all around the pitch for 90 minutes, they would pass with the precision of Barca, and opposing strikers would pull off ridiculous moves they are not capable of.

Just casually looking at the game and taking into account players personalities, variations in attack, spacing, etc... I can't see how anyone can say that FIFA looks like what I watch on TV. To each his own. I will say that FIFA is much easier to pick up and play than PES.

Did I not say, "aesthetically", looking at it from an organic perspective? FIFA moves and looks more like soccer but that doesn't mean it is a better soccer sim. PES is clearly the sim! You are allowing your bias to cloud your interpretation of what I said.

I am so happy PES is getting love in these forums.

This here is my favourite sports title this year this far.

I tried both and it's PES for me this year. Both games are kinda intimidating though with lots of moves, so if I'm going to invest the time to learn them I'll take the more authentic sim game.

If i cant play a demo they cant get my money. I feel like they dont care about my purchase if they wont put out a demo , and they wont let me know when its coming for 360 in NA. I shouldnt have to make a UK account or download it on my PC when I wanna buy it for 360. Its a shame too because I really wanted to try this game out as I have never played a PES game.

It may have something to do with the US version being released later than the UK version. They may not want the demo to be out now when the game doesnt release til close to the end of next month. Who knows though.

Yea but when you go on the official website it says Sept 15th...that date is long passed. Ill keep waiting but I wish they would just give us the heads up. I feel out of the loop and I was trying to keep an open mind about which soccer game to purchase but with no demo for PES it makes me just say welp , Fifa it is.
btw...when does it release...I thought it was the 8th of October? I may be wrong.

Well I was told in another thread here that gamestop has it releasing Oct. 19th. Wikipedia says EU will be getting it Sept. 30th and UK will be getting it October 8th. So Thats why I was assuming the US demo wasnt out yet. But like I said I dont really know. I felt the same way you do though. I was on Pesfan posting that its pretty BS that the US gets everything late. They could atleast update us on it. Then I got tired of waiting n just d/l the UK version.

Don't know why the uk is getting it a week later, silly move. As for the two demos - pes is fun this year and much better but FIFA is the simulation for sure. Just look at messi with the ball stuck to his foot change direction like a hamster in crack it's fun but it isn't realistic. The graphics are great but again not realistic, the contrast and flesh tones look bad which is a shame cos the models and faces are ace. Choice was close this year but FIFA has more depth and has stepped up graphically. The physical play makes players like essien feel like they should, my only big gripe is how passive the ai is, if you ar aggressive you can just pinch the ball away every time. Pes has simulated real player ai to an impressive degree, just wish they could add advantage rule and fix the beach ball physics.

I've never bought PES...the last three years it's been FIFA (which I'm getting this year) but given the talk I decided I owed it a look. I downloaded the demo and while I couldn't really play it (you really need a controller) I have to agree about the player models. I think though Konami made a bad mistake by not making their demo readily available on the PS3 and xbox as FIFA did. (It's not available on the US PS3 or xbox at all as it was last year.)

I will be picking up both this year. Since I didn't play FIFA 10 & PES 10 last year I think I will give both a whirl.

Although I really do like PES 2011 this year and I have been playing it like crazy way more than FIFA 2011 (The halfs are so short). I just need my football fix and I like how FIFA feels this year. Also I want to wait alittle for option files to kick in and as soon as that kicks in It will be PES all the way.

Explain why pes has more depth, people keep saying its like real football but teammates don't run into space ever they just run alongside you like a pet dog. If you do a through ball the player speeds onto the pass quicker then the defender. In real football a player makes a run then the player passes not the hoer way round. Pes is great fun this year and I do really like the passing system alot. In the area of a game it works well but in terms of realism the ball moves way to fast and the angles are unrealistic, just take a ball to the goalie and cross in and see your guy pull the ball back against his momentum and fire the ball into the box.

Pes might have gameplay depth but in terms of football depth FIFA feels much more like football for better and for worse at times.

You must not want to play it that bad, it only takes 2 minutes to make a fake Euro account. Your only spiting yourself, this game is better than FIFA this year. It takes what FIFA did right and adds to it. I'm not even going to bother with FIFA 11, I have WC SA and I know FIFA 11 can't be better or that much better. No sense giving EA anymore business than they deserve.

PES has always been geared to the European market so it's understandable they got the demo first.
