WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 News Post

This past weekend I was lucky enough to be invited to a Los Angeles community event to check out THQ’s WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 title. Before getting into the game, I have to start by thanking Aaron Kaufman and Marcus Stephenson for putting on such an amazing event. It was my first time attending something like this, and it blew away my expectations. These guys really care about their community and the game, which I will now get into.

Immediately when you pick up the game, it feels a lot smoother than last year’s title. While other sports games will sometimes sacrifice gameplay for a smoother look with a lot of signature animations, SvR 2011 has found a way to combine both and take a step forward without taking a step back.

THQ added a new physics system that allows almost anything to be in play during gameplay. When you pick up an opponent, you can now control where you will drop him simply with the left analog stick. So if there is a table in the ring or you’re outside the ring next to the cage, you can aim your opponent mid-move to send him into an object.

Andrew thanks for the write up bro. I'm looking forward to the game itself. Adrew got 1 question for you bro. I know they changed the controls up some this year and they took out strong grapple this year. How do you perform the strong grapple move now?

Why have companies started doing this "Pre-order Exclusives" Its the fan's and gamer's that end up shortchanged.. By all means give different guys away free at different stores but let me have all the content for the game that is ready on release dont make me wait... I guess 5 or 6 guys will be exclusives at different shops? This is not cool and like carlito I sp.... ill leave that there.

From what I have read on other sites you now have to wear them down & get them to a stunned state like picking them up when they are beat up then just hitting the right stick in any direction & they will do the strong grapples. They also brought back the fist of fury punches & if you hit them 4 times with the punches you can get them stunned & you will be able to do a strong grapple. So the quick grapple with now lead to a tie up (when they r not stunned). The same grapple with the guy stunned will lead to a strong grapple. Also when you get a finisher it can be done at anytime now without them being stunned.

I'm just not happy with THQ because they keep messing with the controls every few years. It makes no since why they would do that. No fans have conplained about the controls been messed up. UGH THQ doesn't make since sometime.

Looks like I'm pre-ordering my game at Best Buy this year. Is there the mode where you can create your own story lines and play through them? I hope so, I'm still playing last years game because of that mode.
