NBA 2K11: Is it the Shoes? (ESPN Videogames)

Check out the new NBA 2K11 article from Jon Robinson, titled Is it the Shoes?

	"... as gamers play through "NBA 2K11" they will constantly be rewarded with new pairs of cyber shoes. There are 40 shoes total in the game including 25 pairs of Air Jordans along with the CP3s, Melo 5s, and other shoes from the Jordan line to fill out the closet. But it's not about scoring 80 points in a game or grabbing 22 rebounds in order to unlock certain pairs. It's all about time invested. "The way they unlock is every couple of hours you get a new pair," explains Boenisch. "The shoes also have attributes on them, so this becomes really beneficial both in My Player and MJ Creating a Legend mode. And shoes can be unlocked anywhere in the game, whether you're playing online or franchise or practice mode. Your timer is always running and shoes are always unlocking. "And the order you get them in is random. It's strategically random where the rarest shoes in real life are the hardest to get and are unlocked toward the end while the common ones are unlocked upfront. But if you and I are playing next to each other at the same time, we're going to unlock shoes in a different order. So you can show your friend that you got the Jordan 12s, but maybe he got the 1s and 23s."

Maybe if MJ started playing in 1970, we'd have 40 AJ's.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure no more than 25. We should be thankful for 25 because that's A LOT of AJ's.

for ex.

I'm probably the only one who thinks this way, but for me the AJ brand ended in 1998. I just didn't care about it afterwards. But that's me, and I guess more AJ's are needed because other players wear the newer ones. But I just couldn't bring myself to even think of bying it after 1998.

To be honest, as long as the shoe textures/colorways are correct, ill be happy with what ever they give us.

Not so. The article says "there are 40 shoes total in the game including 25 pairs of Air Jordans".

Besides, you can already see the John Wall Reeboks in the screen shot from yesterday (8/17).

I was a bit shocked when it said that there were only 40 different shoes. Hopefully they made a mistake. They should have all the shoes players are currently wearing and the old school shoes for the classic rosters. Im tired of players wearing generic brand shoes. If nba elite can get so many signature shoes than I dont understand why 2k isnt getting more. The better game should deserves more.

I don't think it will be like that. There will probably just be the base shoe, and the color editor from 2K10. I need to be able to make the bred IV's

well that makes sense

when we saw the first jordan teaser, the 12's didnt have the red jumpman on the tongue. explains alot

I'm with everyone else on this, I surely hope there aren't 40 total shoes in the game with 25 of them coming from Nike/MJ. if thats the total amount of shoes, what about nikes shoes? adidas (who still are the official endorser of the NBA)? what about reebok? That would just be really weird if this is the case.

Just got this from "another site"" NBA 2K11: Is it the shoes? (ESPN) by Andrew on Thu Aug 19, 2010 10:45 am Check it out here. Of note:-( There will be 40 shoes from the Jordan line in the game)- All 25 Air Jordans will be included- The shoes will be automatically unlocked (in random order) every couple of hours of gameplay time, no matter which mode you're playing- As mentioned elsewhere, the shoes will provide different boosts for My Player and Creating a Legend mode- You can also view the history of each shoe in-game" if this is true I am one happy camper.

I would think so, We have already seen Lebron's sneaks I believe, John Wall Reeboks, Derrick Rose Adidas, KG's Adidas. I saw some new nikes too. One thing that was puzzling though was that in the trailer Kobe look he was wearing generics, Not Cool.

I think it means theres 40 shoes to unlock and the rest are already in the game.

So just leave the game on for the night, and when you wake up you'll have like 5 shoes unlocked?
