WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 News Post

Thanks for stepping into Carraggi's Corner, where we are always off the wall but promise to at least stay in the room. In this space, we'll tackle this and that, these and those -- strap up!

It really is something of a paradox, isn't it? How do you cultivate realism in a video game based on something faker than Pam Anderson? How do you improve the sim aspect of WWE's Smackdown series?

Unfortunately, there is no blanket answer that can lay the smackdown on some of the arcade-like parts of the decade-old fighting series. However, common sense suggests the developers may see an opening to make the next few versions of the game more sim-friendly, especially with the steroid-fueled (speaking of realism) WWE All-Stars making its debut.

But what steps should THQ take to make the series a little more realistic? Here are a couple of suggestions.

Since SD vs Raw series came to the next gen console. Online has really become bad. SD vs RAw 06 was the last time online was real good. But according to Bryan Willaims and Cory. They have done alot of work on the online aspect of the game to improve it. So I'm hoping this year Svr game online changes to make it more fun online.

So very simple to make a WWE game with realism. Make it a wrestling game and not a fighting game.

The cut Out the double player animations because if the move is begin proformed by a character neither the character that receiving the move can not stop the move or an outside character cannot disrupt it (this really hurts triple threat matches). In match fatigue needs immediate improvement. As the match progress, the animation or not affected what so ever. Common details involving fatigue such as the use of ropes or each other do not occur. Player tendencies needs to be accounted for: John Cena sticks to a low variety of moves while Jack Swagger use a large variety moves. Other tendencies such use of top turnbuckle moves, high impact moves, submission moves, Irish whip rope rebound moves, and technical wrestling moves. Lift capcities are not accounted for.If I decide to put a powerslam in Rey Misterios move set he will be able to proform this on everyone, unrealistically. Begining of most matches have been huge issue is all of the smackdown. Their should be several ways to start a match; even strength competitors lock up and uneven strength competitors should in corner to corner striking battles. These should also occur during large separation of between competitors. Certain abilties such as consecutive moves by clean characters such as john cena,Randy Orton, and triple H just to name a few. Bad character trend to focus on body parts in varias different ways.

Me too!

I actually think SvR 2010 took a huge step with the story designer. It doesn't get enough praise. There's a lot of crap out there, but there are also a lot of good storylines to download and I've made some good ones myself.

As for the gameplay, they seem to be improving it by adding more grapples for 2011. One thing I'd like to see is online federations, as in ones that are organized in-game. There could be a lot of potential complications with that, though. Maybe a "Be A GM" mode in which 2 players could compete for ratings online?

This has no effect on gameplay, but it'd be nice to see the design an arena feature return. I loved that part of the old Acclaim N64/PSX games, and even the upcoming Action Arcade Wrestling has such a feature.
