NBA 2K11 News Post

According to Dan Rovell, NBA 2K11 will feature 10 different versions of Michael Jordan.

Quote:
"The games that fans can play with different versions of Jordan include all of the following: April 20, 1986 (Game 2 of the 1st round of the playoffs against the Celtics when Jordan scored 63), March 28, 1990 (regular season game against the Cavs when Jordan scored 69), June 3, 1992 (Game 1 of the first round of the playoffs versus the Trail Blazers when Jordan scored 35 in the first half), March 18, 1995 (Jordan returns to the game and scores 55 against the Knicks), June 11, 1997 (the famous Jordan "flu game") and June 14,1998 (the day of his last game in a Bulls uniform as his last second shot gives the Bulls its sixth title under his reign).

In each game, gamers are charged with different goals, including matching Jordan's point totals and shooting percentage. If you hit six three pointers in a row like Jordan did against the Trail Blazers in 1992, the virtual Jordan will shrug just like he did in real life on that night. Two of the 10 challenges don't have specific dates tied to it. You can play the 1991 Finals version of Jordan as well as play a game in 1990 style vs. Dominique Wilkins and the Atlanta Hawks, where gamers are challenged with holding Wilkins to 25 points or fewer.

The most challenging version of Jordan to play with likely will be the "flu game," where Jordan scored 38 points against the Jazz in what Phil Jackson would say after the game was the greatest game Jordan played."

Something that worries me: will the refereeing and more physical game of the 80´s and 90's be reproduced as well?

Thats a must for realism...

Since physical defense is one of the issuse that they promised to fix (as far as I can remember), I'm pretty sure we'll get some toughness.

Great News!! But I Hope Uniforms Are different over the time periods. like the 80's uniforms should be different from the 90's. Also i would like to see old school style uniforms on the legends instead of the long shorts.( Magic Never wore long shorts)

The short shorts thing has been confirmed.

In a nod to authenticity, player models will sport shorter shorts than their contemporary counterparts. Moreover, Jordan's player model and in-game ratings will change in accordance with the particular playable moment -- over time, he'll become more muscular, with less hair -- while accomplishing certain game play goals, such as making six first-half three-pointers against Portland, will trigger signature animations like Jordan's famous "shrug."

I'm from the Chi, everyone who has heard this news out here is freaking out. This city is on 10 right now! On
ESPN 1000 (local radio affiliate in chicago) people in the windy are literaly going bananas over this news!
This is a great day in sports history, .....hell even basketball videogame history, and a real treat for long time Jordan and Bulls fans! I grew up watching Mike....in fact every year he was in the league coincided with my grade level of school....91' 6th grade.....so on and so forth. Ima huge Bulls fan too.....along with D-Rose they gonna be a tough out this year....we aint gone lay down!----(Miami)! But this game may very well be the best basketball game we have all ever played....I'm 31 so trust me when I say so.....cause I defiantely have played them all!

LOL at the commentators calling him "Captain Marvel"...

I'm sure that were other good ones.

This means nothing if the gameplay sucks. I was disappointed with every version since 2k7.

I will love this mode for the touch of history, not because I'm looking for a half court dunk. To me, it's 20 more teams (great teams I loved watching) to use when I play. In terms of video gaming, the NBA's history is such an open book, so much room to tinker, add, and discover. A lot of people are just interested in the here and now (Kobe, Dwight, LeBron) and that's absolutely fine. But there are also a lot of people who witnessed other great moments and love the NBA not only for what it is, but for what it was. The fact that some accurate history is being implemented here is a really cool step in my book.

Yeah, yeah...better today's game, where mosquitos touching players get whistles. I watched many teams playing and not only the Pistons. Teams scored more points because the game was more fluid, and not having a call every 10 seconds. Today the refs are the ones who dribble and score, not the players.

I think it's gonna come down to what u prefer to play, 2K or the other. Both companies are doin' their best to give a quality game, and for that we should take our hat's off to both companies. Me myself I prefer 2K( i Love The Gameplay, feels more realistic to me,but not shootin' down EA. Just what I prefer) I feel competition brings fourth better games.Just only wish we had the same in the football games.
