2K Sports Reveals Greatest Cover of All Time for NBAŽ 2K11

NBA 2K11 shows off new, unique art style to pay homage to Michael Jordan

New York, NY - July 7, 2010 - 2K Sports today revealed the official cover art for NBAŽ 2K11 featuring Michael Jordan as the face of this year's iteration of the top rated and top selling basketball simulation franchise*. The art style, featuring a highly-stylized, three-panel, iconic image of Jordan, represents a departure from previous NBA 2K titles to reflect the significance of having the greatest player of all time grace the cover.

"We knew as soon as we signed Jordan that we needed to do something special for the cover," said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. "This could possibly be the most highly anticipated cover art in the history of sports games and we think the image we came up with delivers on every front. I think fans will be pleasantly surprised at how Jordan is actually used in game, as NBA 2K11 will pay homage to His Airness' in many ways, but the cover art represented our first chance to stop and honor him along the way."

"Its exciting to see it all come together," said Michael Jordan, a recent Hall of Fame inductee. "I am looking forward to seeing the final product, but my kids might have to give me some lessons."

OK cover, not what I would have expected. I guess "the greates of all-time" doesn't deserves the greatest cover

By the way, it's the 1996-97 MJ there.
I also noticed that the "23" isn't exactly in the middle between the first name and last name, looks closer to the first name....haha...just messing with you

What impresses me actually, is the new 360 top pannel, I think it's new. Now that's a beauty!

It kinda looks different from past 2k covers! But its still awesome! Can't wait for october!

Hope the add the tongue and they should have a code that unlocks the old chicago bulls!

It's actually a pretty damn good cover (best ever?). It's just not what I expected it to be.

Beauty. You gotta have the tongue in his sig style now that it's on the cover

Side note: I hate that 360 panel, hope that's not the new standard for Xbox. The current/old one is very neutral and compliments the box, unlike this one.

Don't like it too much.. but as for every game, don't judge what you see on the cover but what you get out of the game..

I really do think this is the best cover ever put together. Having Jordan just gives such a positive impression.

I'm not a big basketball gamer, but this cover could of had so much more potential. I'm a huge graphic guru, and seeing MJ on a cover with some noobish red photoshop brushes just doesn't seem to do justice what could have been. I would of thought they would have used one of his famous dunks or something, but to slap on some lame red effects wasn't the right way to go. What I believe they should have done would be to go with an old theme on the cover, rather then the style used for the past 5 or 6 years.

I'm 100% sure that the other versions they had made, and which didn't pass the test, were better. The "client" ALWAYS picks the worse option.

Cover is great ! Jordan is the "Greatest Of All Time" and KOBE knows he is chasing Jordan, so there should no be a problem ! Cant wait to play with Jordan in the game, Hell the first thing I will do is change his name to mine ! I wanna be like Mike !!!

^^^This. I wish they would stop making versions for that system. It has to take away workers from the PS3/360/PC versions to work on that prehistoric console
