NCAA Football 11 News Post

Tradition Football has posted their NCAA Football 11 E3 impressions.

Quote:
"One of my favorite changes which is something that is noticeable in the demo as well is the new animations for throwing the deep ball. Those combined with the fact that throws are no longer guaranteed to be accurate so often will be a lare part of what the defense relies on. Zone positioning seems better but without the ability to redirect so quickly the defense needs pressure or a bad throw once in awhile. Will NCAA 11 be all about the offense? I can’t fully tell at this juncture.

The playbook changes, while being mentioned in the whole 120 ways to win slogan, have really not been given the credit they deserve. For instance a couple of years ago the playbook improvements were lauded but only somewhat impressive. This year I am seeing new plays in every playbook, indeed every formation. They have really added a lot of new plays and concepts."

Thanks Steve! I don't think the guy realizes you can select the topic to talk about, just not usually.

more often than not, the choice is random though.. you can skip.. but there is no guarentee you will get a coach's choice in your phone call.

the addition of more errant throws really has me stoked... i hate the 70% completion ratio's. And dumbing down WR catching to adjust was maddening at times.

Agree 100%. I missed a few WIDE OPEN receivers in the demo playing as Pryor (IRL - to be expected). The commentators called me out on it, as I sat there, stunned. But it was awesome.

Worth noting that I missed both throws without even trying to lead the pass - the receiver was that open and I just sailed both.

Hopefully this is present for BOTH the Human-Controlled players and AI, unless using a QB with outstanding accuracy.

Just wondering... with all the new plays did you notice if the Shovel Pass is finally in or not? Thanks.

So, although I have no proof, I think it may be in the game this year.
Yeah, that HB Mid Screen is in the demo. But that is no way near a Shovel Pass. That HB Mid Screen took too long. The shovel pass looks like a normal down field pass but the QB flips the ball out almost like an option play.

Here's a video of the Shovel in action...

i can't 100% confirm, but im almost sure Shopmaster ran a shovel pass at community day against me. It was from an option look to the inside RB closer to the line of scrimmage than the QB... making it a forward pass from the spread option look.

i just can't say for sure it was there but im thinking it was.

Thanks. I am really interested in this play being in and since they are claiming to have the Run & Shoot in, and the Shovel being a staple in that scheme, it only makes sense to have it in. I appreciate the response.

Did anybody else notice that the ball rotates the correct way out of the QB's hand? I didn't play 10, but I don't think the ball rotated correctly out of the QB's hand. Kind of sad that I'm even talking about ball rotation.

I noticed players look to the sideline when I played the demo last night. When you go into no huddle, don't pick a play right away or pick one then audible. While doing this, players will look to the sideline.

yea, there's hurry up.. then there is no-huddle... they are different and probably initiate different type of logic from the game.
