Because I assure you, you get boosts by getting achievements in basically all of them. Madden is not the first sports game with this idea... Its the last sports game to implement team play.

Offense will be horrendously BORING to play co-op for the non-QB players who get the ball 3 or 4 times a game.
Defense could be pretty cool though, since everyone gets to actually do something every play.
Try controlling the WR in madden and play an ENTIRE GAME like that. After getting 3 catches total by halftime (if you are lucky) you will realize why this is not going to work.
If they were going to do this, they needed to allow you to control OL.

I don't think it's a good idea or how they've implemented it.
Why does Ian/EA think that it's ok to lose with your friends? I've played competitive RTS games with clan/teams and I guarantee you there is absolutely nothing acceptable about losing a match. When you lose, no one is happy, you go watch a film and try to break down what went wrong where so you can learn from the experience and avoid it later on.
They talk about 3vs3 competitive gaming, but they have skill sets and boosts. I think they've played a little too much WoW.

I absolutely hated Madden 06-09. I tried to enjoy it but problems abounded with very little appearance that things would change. After experiencing last year's game, and still paying it, I appreciate what has been accomplished. Sure, there are still issues, but if you look at what is being accomplished with both Madden and NCAA, you can't deny progress.
It's not being naive. It's being reasonable.
