MLB 2K10 News Post

According to Kotaku, Stephen Strasburg could be appearing on your video game console as soon as midnight, and when he does, he'll be the 15th-best starting pitcher in all of MLB 2K10 - just seven innings into his career.

Quote:
"2K Sports told Kotaku this afternoon that Strasburg, the Washington Nationals phenom who fanned 14 Pittsburgh Pirates in an appointment-television debut on Tuesday night, will be in the game's next roster update, and it may be available as soon as midnight tonight, U.S. Pacific Time.

When that roster is available, Strasburg will debut as an 87-rated starting pitcher - ahead of mainstays like the Yankees' A.J. Burnett, Houston's Roy Oswalt and grenade-spam ***** Cole Hamels. He will be by far the best starter on the Nats' staff - Livan Hernandez is currently rated a 75 - and would be the top starter on 15 other ballclubs."

I know your banned man, but I've seen the guy pitch for three straight years at SDSU. Hell, I faced him once. His stuff is of the best today among active pitchers. I don't know if he'll last and I don't know if his control/composure will hold up, but he is legitimate. Not just hype.

I would have made him a 93. The dude is filthy.

IMO I think 2K was very late in getting this out. IF there wasn't some restriction preventing them from pushing an updated roster after Strasburg had thrown his very 1st pitch as a major leaguer I say they should've had the roster available on Tuesday + MLB Today up and ready to be used for those eager to play his debut on the same day.

I mean this was an EVENT in every sense of the word, and IMO 2K failed to connect that and still a roster update 2 days later is at least 1 day too late.

You can't blame 2K...They have to wait approval from the MLB before the can release the roster update

Yea...started a new franchise w/ the Nats. Simmed to Strasburg's debut last night. Still controlling all-30, but not editing contracts.

I had anticipated playing only Strasburg starts, but simming to June 8th resulted in A LOT of Nats losses. Currently, after beating Pitt 4-1 in Strasburg's debut, the Nats are now on a 6-game winning streak...however are 11 games under .500 and 17 games out of 1st place.

Figure I'll keep playing Nats game while on the winning streak, and since they're so far back...always fun to bring a team back from the grave.

I don't have a problem with an 87 rating except for the fact that yovani gallardo is also an 87. i think at this point gallardo is definitly better than strasburg. gallardo should be like a 92. he like 4th or 5th in the mlb in strikeouts with like a 2.40 era yet hes only an 87. lower strasburg or raise gallardos rating.

Is there a reason Strasburg has a Padres hat on in his fake picture?

Let things settle a bit, and give hitters time to figure him out. This stuff always happens in rookie year, then some of those youngsters completely disappear off the earth in their second.

yeah he has 22 strikeouts in his first two appearances but he had 5 walks too in his last game. once hitters see him a couple of times his numbers will go back to what u can expect from a phenomonal rookie.
3.00-3.50ish ERA 6 or 7 strikeouts a game. and its not like he's gonna win every start otherwise he would be like a 30 game winner. lol.

oh and u gotta remember he is throwing like 99-101 because he is flowing with adrenaline from his first couple starts. he'll go back to the 95-97 range when he calms down. and thats not just me sayin it, experts on espn say the same thing. 95-97 is still amazinb but way more hittable than 101. lol.

Now I never had a radar gun on him when watching him at SDSU, but I can assure you that it's not just adrenaline. This guy can throw 99 MPH from the stretch going into a triple digit pitch count for the day. I don't know how long he'll be able to do that for, maybe for another eight years or so, but that will suffice. I mean his sinker is mid 90s and his slurve is low 80s. He has relative zip on everything.
