NBA Elite 11 News Post

EBGames has released some new details about NBA Elite 11.

With independent control of your hands and feet, feel the drama and excitement of every game unfold, as you have the ability to change every outcome of every game. Powered by an overhauled controls system that covers all aspects of the sport, and a radically improved physics engine, reinvent your game with NBA ELITE 11.

Expanded Information

* All-New Hands-On Control

o The Game is in Your Hands—For the first time in a basketball video game, dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense are based on skill, fundamentally changing the entire NBA basketball experience. With complete hands-on control outcomes are no longer predetermined, and you become the deciding factor between game-winning shots and momentum-changing blocks.
o Enhanced Dribbling System—The right analog stick controls your hand movements like never before, allowing you to dribble with one-to-one movement unique to NBA ELITE 11. Control the floor with all-new hesitations, spins, behind-the-back dribbles, and much more.
o Call Your Shot—The days of predetermined outcomes based on a random push of the button are gone forever, as the result of every play is based on skill. Each player has a ‘sweet-spot’ and the ability to hit a shot is based on their skill set, defensive pressure, and proximity to the net. It’s up to you to put everything together and hit the shot.
o The Drive to Win—The ability to drive to the net has never been so true to the game of basketball. Independent control of your hands and feet allows you to maneuver and dribble with precision, making the drive down the lane based on skill instead of a scripted defensive reaction.
o Defense Matters—Independent hand controls also allow you to be more strategic on defense as you use the right analog stick to make steal attempts and game-changing blocks.

* Unprecedented Game Physics

o Feel the Game Like Never Before—Radically improved game physics rid the days of locked animated sequences leaving you in control of the player at all times. When you drive aggressively to the net and go up with authority, you can be sure that whoever is standing in your way is going to be knocked to the ground.

I very well may be wrong and that's why I made a statement in my initial post about it. Still not buying into the hype. I honestly feel the makers/developers of the game has to have played the game for them to really understand/fix a lot of it's issues in relation to gameplay. Someone has to say that move looks whacked or that would never happen in a game. Again, I may be wrong and they may have played/coached the game at some point in there lives but up to now I just don't get how some off the things as far as gameplay come out on a retail disk.

I am gonna be the first to say it that this game will be bug-ridden from the start. Crossing fingers that I am wrong.
yeah you might want to go back and reread what he said.... you got that all wrong. For some reason the things listed and the approach for a change seem very far from hype. Live to was a very strong foundation to build from in my opinion, and that hasn't been the case for years now. We'll have to see how honest they are being about these new features working or are they all just in awe of something different.

i do like the direction so far though.

One thing I want people to understand is that we are building off of the great work that was in NBA Live 10. Most everything people liked about the game is still there. We are not starting from scratch. You will still be able to do set plays, screens, and pick and rolls (all with real physics and not canned scenarios). We are improving on what people liked. I haven't even touched on the new REAL-AI system (originally in NHL and Fight Night), where producers can play the game, and the AI will be able to use the best, most successful moves/shots that we have done right back against us. It is like playing against a human. You will hear and see much more about it over the coming months.

The shooting sounds like NBA xx The Inside's shooting where if you hit in the green it was a guaranteed bucket..

I stand corrected based off this in regards to my earlier post. Next time I will do more research.

Everything sounds good and all, but all I have to go on is past exp with EA. Hopefully this year will be different but it just seems like the same hype about there yearly upcoming release regarding there B-ball game. It all sounds "GREAT" with all the new features/community day and how all these new features are going to enhance our enjoyment and then we get the final product and it's buggy as all heck, freezing, we need you to re-create what happened Season/play now/exb you know what caused the freeze and then the dreaded word. PATCH!!!!

This year very well may be different and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Again my apologies for posting something that I thought was accurate. Peace!!!

I have been reading most of the posts across the board and get the impression that people are making a lot of speculations and unfair judgements about Elite. About the screenshots.... the game simply looked much better than last year. About gameplay.... Shooting is very well done and thought out. You will find that it makes a lot of sense and resembles real life shooting. All games have bugs so you will never be able to avoid that. Patches do a lot of things for a game and the developers once the game has shipped. They are also very expensive for companies to submit. Believe me, they will only patch if they have to.

Heck, I agree everything sounds like it's gonna be a heck of a game if these things in fact work as advertised. I truly feel people have the right to reserve judgement at this point especially with regards to any game EA release and even more so after being Burned Badly by the College game. I'm just not ready to believe all the hype and rightfully so based on my exp over the years with EA that's all. I personally want this game to be the game of choice by gamers this year when it comes to B-ball.

Is that when they invite people to check out the new game?

I don't really pay much attention to those things because in years past the game is hardly ever the way those guys report it to be when it finally releases.

Until the actual product itself delivers on the floor i'll believe nothing reported by anyone until I see it happen.......

Looks like this year they are giving us another BRAND NEW INNOVATION

It's funny you said that Playmakers. I was thinking to myself that how do I know any of these guys play the way I play? Without that info it's hard to weigh their opinions. I think they should have released videos of the gameplay, it would have said a lot more! They could've shown snipets but at least something that showed controller input and resulting gameplay without all the "top secret stuff".

With that said there are at least two of them that I do have some experience with and feel somewhat comfortable with their viewpoint. I don't feel they misrepresent anything it's just they all are careful to state that: "this is only my opinion... blah blah blah."

To speak on the hype train, uhh, train of thought, I think when it came to Live 10, EA pretty much delivered the things they said they were going to do in the game. I didn't play the game thinking, "Oh, what happened to this that/this they spoke of?" It was all Ragu, to me - It was in there. They didn't over promise like the devs for Madden 10 and even Ian had to say, after Madden 10's release, that a few of the things they wanted in Madden 10 didn't make it because of bugs and/or time. I can still respect that because I know the nature of the computer beast and about time constraints and the yada. I'm a IT "corporate man". I get it.

At any rate, unless there is truly something I am forgetting that all the guys from the Live 10 dev team who spoke either to the community or through interviews and articles and the yada didn't make good on, I think people are being tough on this "new" squad. Like I said about "Live 11" NOT going in a" ridiculous direction" and dropping the ball, which MANY either thought, wanted or feared would happen, I will say, AGAIN, that this Elite 11 team will NOT jack this up. TOO MUCH IS AT STAKE especially when they thought Live 10 would fair better than it did, sales wise. I think the new physics and tech along with 1:1, IMPROVED control is going to do some serious damage on the b-ball gamer psyche. I have no doubts after Live 10.

I guess that cuts it down to one of whom I feel comfortable with their viewpoint, LOL!

Wasn't really referring to playing like I do in terms of sim or not but much more literally as in: do you play on the ball D or use one man, do you use sliders or out the box, do you switch and rebound yourself or block out and allow the CPU, etc... I've noticed that based on how one actually plays (controls the game) on the court the gameplay experience is different. Also knowing what you liked and disliked about Live 10 makes a difference to me, boils down to we may simply look for different things.

Pared actually I tend to value your view even though I think it slightly differs from mine. If I recall correctly you and I debated about Live's D when it first came out. You felt you needed more where I liked it. Since the patches I hate it but that's another story. I know all of you want a sim experience but I learned here at OS that sim means something different to each of us. For me 1st and foremost strategies and personnel must work the same way in the game as in real life. I am not so concerned w/Kobe's jumper looking like Kobe's jumper. To me that's superficial and has nothing to do with being sim.

When i see it i'll believe it.

For me it's no more excuses. Year after year we get wait till next year. I truly believe if they don't bring it this year a lot of us longtime vets of this series will be done.

Edit. It's official Kobe will put the initials MJ to rest after this series!!!!!

NO MORE EXCUSES!!!!
