Split/Second Demo Races onto Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network

Disney Interactive Studios announced today a demo of Split/Second, the action racing game from award winning Black Rock Studio, is available now on Microsoft's Xbox LIVE. The Split/Second demo will be available exclusively on Xbox LIVE until May 11, when it will also become available on the PlayStation®Network. Set within the world of a fictional reality TV show, Split/Second gives gamers the opportunity to not only race to the finish line, but also trigger explosive events to take out opponents, alter the track and become the season champion.

The demo will allow players to experience the Airport Terminal level in race mode. Players will race through a fictional airport terminal taking out opponents by triggering events, such as bringing down the air traffic control tower and a remotely piloted cargo plane, in an exciting race to the finish line.
Winner of the prestigious Game Critics Award: Best of E3 2009 for Best Racing Game, Split/Second will be released in North America on Tuesday, May 18 and in Europe on May 21. Split/Second is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older and will be available for Xbox 360®video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC.

Played both demos, enjoy Split/Second a lot more than Blur. Just more fun, better looking, and seemingly a better game. Loved it.

I thought Blur was more fun. Split Second to me was quite boring.....not much going on.

Really like the demo.

Me and my friends all downloaded it and have been playing just the one level trying to get the best time. It's actually pretty intense as we are now breaking the 4:00 mark and beating each other by fractions of a second.

For those who have the game or played the demo, are there any other shortcuts or route changes other then the one where you make the tower fall down and it redirects you onto the runway, and the shortcut which makes the crane go up?

So did anyone buy this game or have any more reviews of the demo? I won't have time to check out the demo but if it's great I may order online for getting it the weekend.

It looks fantastic but how well does this work with the wheel though? I had the demo of Blur and it was terrible with the wheel. I prefer to play all of my racing games using the wheel.

goh - I posted this in your thread too, but then I thought, maybe goh doesn't have a wheel so I figured i'd post it here too so someone might see it here.

I played the demo last week for PS3. IMO the graphics were very sub-par. Not the textures, but the fact that it was pretty jaggy and the airport track at least lacked any sort of third dimension to it (height) made the race feel a bit bland in some ways. It was fun and pretty heart-pumping, and it helped that I won on the one race that I tried... but I never got triggered by the CPU, so I don't know what it's like to try and avoid something if it's possible (or if it's automatic that you just face disaster when someone times it).

Could make for a very frustrating game online.
