NCAA Football 11 News Post

Gameinformer has posted their first look at NCAA Football 11.

Quote:
"One of the major differences between college and professional football is the amount of unique offensive schemes employed in college. Tiburon has placed an emphasis on faithfully recreating the playbooks to assure that if your school lines up in the pistol, option, or spread formations on Saturdays, you’ll see it in the game as well. NCAA 11 also marks the return of the popular formation substitution feature, which allows you to customize who is on the field for each offensive and defensive formation. This is especially useful for players who rotate in pass rushing specialists for nickel and dime packages or offensive masterminds who like to move their star receiver around to find favorable coverage match-ups.

Fans of running the no-huddle offense will be happy to hear that you now have access to your full playbook when your team is running back up to the line of scrimmage. This is a major improvement over how the old games handcuffed you into choosing from your small selection audibles."

- Is this the first time that's being said?? Regardless, NICE!! I like that, I like that a lot!

Now, in regards to the new presentation, the one thing that got me about it is the use of stock cutscenes from Madden 10. I noticed in one of the other vids that was posted up here that there was a cutscene of the crowd that looked just like one of the cutscenes from Madden 10. While I haven't seen all of their cutscenes for NCAA 11, of course, I hope there is a bunch more new cutscenes, which I doubt there are, and not just rehashes. I actually wish EA wouldn't use stock footage, at all. That's what contributes to a game feeling like it's not so new. Variety would also go a long way. Maybe some pan outs of sections instead of upclose shots, wide shots of the whole stadium, wide shots to zoom ins, yada, yada.

No, it was mentioned in some of the other previews. It's great for dynasties, but I hope it's balanced properly for online play.

Nothing really new, but still another positive preview. A lot better than this time last year. Everyone was bashing EA for NCAA 10 in previews and on here. Totally different vibe this year.

I just hope teams recruit towards their style of play or else the addition of authentic play styles will be wasted after 4-5 seasons.

"After big plays, the camera will pan to celebrating fans in the school section, cheerleaders, flag teams, and mascots."

I'm really hoping for a big upgrade with presentation and college atmosphere. The above features have been done in prior versions to varying degrees so I hope there is a lot more. The cutscreen to the cheerleaders doing flips and acrobatics is so old they need to get rid of this. The mascots aren't that exciting either.

I hope we see more cut scenes with the fans like the "Hurricane Warning" signs for Miami. Having those old scenes back in with new graphics would be amazing. The cut scenes in Madden really added to the game, but it got old seeing the same shirtless obese man at every team's game. Talk about a dedicated NFL fan. You also saw the same blonde chick at every NFL game above the tunnel when teams ran in at half time.

But the scenes did add to the game. I felt like they really were fans of the teams and I tried to please them lol, or if I was away I tried to upset them.

Imagine a next gen fan creator! Since its an EA game, we could get the Sims 3 creator tool for fans.

I'm curious as to why they didn't add the Wildcat offense to the game. It seems like a lot of teams are using that one more and more. Or maybe they did, and are just calling it something else, I'm not sure, but it would be really cool if they had it.

The Wildcat isn't an offense like the Spread, its a formation. I am sure teams that had it last year will see it return in their new playbooks. We'll still have the Wild Hokie, Wild Bruin, Wild Duck, etc.

The wildcat isn't really an "offense" per say, it's more of a formation teams sprinkle in every once in awhile.

The thing that gets me excited is the fact that every preview we've read so far has been possitive! They are all saying the same the thing.

Another good preview and again the promise that EA still has more up their sleeve. All good stuff.
