NCAA Football 11 News Post

Gamespot has posted their hands-on preview of NCAA Football 11, going over 120 ways to win.

Quote:
"A new play-calling screen gives you more in-depth access to your playbook and lets you quickly cycle between different formations by pressing up or down on the D pad, which is handy when you're running the no-huddle offense yourself. There are also button shortcuts for quick access to special teams or goal line plays that we found to be very handy. As in previous years, you can still organize your plays by formation, coach's suggestion, or by play type, but the ability to choose plays by individual player has been removed. The game-planning system that was a big addition last year is still in NCAA 11, with a few new added categories on offense and defense (such as deciding how to play against mobile quarterbacks on defense or how aggressively you play no huddle when on offense). In addition, you'll still be able to set plays up as you did in NCAA 10.

On the field, perhaps the most obvious change in NCAA 11 is the lighting--for lack of a better term, the players, the stadiums, and especially the replays have a more cinematic feel to them. Small details like self-shadowing on players helps here, and we found ourselves pausing to watch replays, which is something we'd button through like mad in previous years. New skin textures bring a more realistic look to the players, and there are a lot of depth-of-field camera tricks that bring the action on the field to life."

I'm kind of scared about Missouri playing a no huddle spread offense. Because in every NCAA game I've ever played, when the CPU ran no huddle they would be unstoppable and score WITHOUT FAIL in easily about 45 seconds. I don't want to see Mizzou put up 100 points on me lol.

Unlike most people here, I always enjoy the NCAA football series year in and year out, so if they improve it as much as it looks like Ill be extremely happy. But I agree with this, I remember it being one of the most annoying parts of NCAA 10, and if a team is running it all game. Yikes.

Well, look at it like this. They focussed heavily on offensive styles and especially the spread offense. So, I would assume they looked at the gameplay elements dealing with the spread so it was in the game in a realistic manner. This is probably why we have seen a new fatigue system, or a more effective on in the videos. They made if actually work correctly so while Missouri ran it and made your D tired, they'll also be getting tired themselves, so its a reward and risk type thing. Running it has benefits, but your offense also has to have more depth to it because you skill players will be getting a lot more tired than the traditional offense and I would say your lineman will probably get gassed pretty fast too.

I can't wait to see how they have implemented it and tweaked other areas of the game so it works correctly.
