Run-and-Shoot needs more option routes/on-the-fly adjustments to patterns.

I'm happy with what I've seen so far. I really don't have huge expectations when it comes to sports games.

I'll buy it, play it for a few months, and move on. I think I've logged about 8 days worth of MLB The Show 10, and it's one of the best sports games to date.

I must say this game is shaping up to be a classic.

If you're going to get so picky about a game then just wait for the demo, if you like it buy it, if not don't. But people are getting ridiculous with how picky they can be.
What reviews? If your referring to the preview that was posted, those always sound they same for every game. Every preview I have ever seen of any game always makes the game sound great, so I don't see why anybody would put alot of stock in them.

As far as the video I found it to be pretty decent overall. I do agree with Rocky about both the o-line vs d-line interaction and wr/db interaction though as they look identical to last year. How exactly is commenting on both those things being picky? Those are both pretty basic things and very important in making a really good football game.

Something I would have liked to see in the video is when he was talking about different spread offenses working, if they would have included a qb read/ qb choice play to show if locomotion actually makes that play possible to run effectively this year. That is a crucial play to alot of run oriented spread offenses and to getting the style of them correct.

Like I said liked the video overall, wasn't blown away by it though and wish they would have included a couple more plays like the qb read play to show they actually may work this year.

As a side note why did they show Illinois running a west coast offense? They run a spread offense.

Illinois has a new offensive coordinator. Paul Petrino. Brother of Bobby. They're not running the spread anymore. It'll be what you saw or didn't see at Arkansas.

Actually, Oklahoma State brought in a new offensive coordinator from Houston (who runs the Texas Tech/Mike Leach offense). No more placards this year.

Can't agree with that part about previews. Previews can have different tones to them that indicate whether the previewer thinks the game is great, good, ok, terrible. Not every preview of games whether sports or otherwise are the same or, even, bubbly, for that matter. Words like "impressive" don't get thrown around in every preview I've ever read for any game. The 3 previews of NCAA 11 that I've seen seem VERY encouraging and honest where it seems like the previewers were genuinely impressed and/or blown away with aspects of the game.

As for the vid, I'm with u. I liked it but wasn't blown away from it. The true test will be at least playing the demo as it keeps being said we have to play the game and not base it on the vids.
Some positives are in this vid where it seemed like at least one WR made a true cut on his route run. The blocking looked decent, too. I seen a O lineman actually hunt down "the correct" player to block on a run. Lol.

Good, those look ridiculous lol.

So the play they showed before showing the spread.. does that mean bubble screens are in?

not so fast my friend. there was a pic last year with black face masks and it was still wrong in game so I think Iowa fans are going to need see it themselves to believe it.

We are just going to have to agree to disagree about previews, but if you look at the previews of NCAA the last couple years most of them sounded almost identical to the ones this year in tone. Not to mention I have read numerous previews about other sports games and non sports games that made a game sound great and they turned out to be bad games. Just look at the previews of a game like Haze for example.

I do agree that true test will come when we actually play the game for ourselves though.

sorry, but that's completely false. Dig up last year's previews most if not all of them said the game plays/looks very similiar to '09. I'm not saying they bashed the game either, but they certainly didn't go out of their way to point out the major differences like all the previews are doing so far this year

This is true, just read the one for NCAA 10 and it says something along the lines of the game will feel very similar to vets of the series. This in multiple reviews on one site or the other. It was very apparent from last years reviews that gameplay was the same. It is very apparent that gameplay will be different this year based on reviews, now whether or not its for the better or worse, we will find out soon enough. Every advancement brings new issues, but I'm looking forward to NEW issues instead of the same old ones.

Bama still has white facemasks, so there's that. I didn't really get much from that video at first glance. I was expecting more on the no-huddle and tendency aspects of this year's game. Certainly not complaining about seeing more of the game, but those offensive playbooks have been in place for two years now. Playbooks don't always represent the play calls of the AI. The latter is where users are looking for more emphasis. Linemen having super wide splits in spread offensive schemes is a better indication of differentiating styles.

# 57 speedkills @ 04/23/10 10:07 PM
Bobby Petrino doesn't run a west coast offense at Arkansas. From what I understand it's called the power spread. And the run and shoot isn't simply "throwing the ball 60 times a game and getting rid of it quickly" it's receivers changing their routes on the fly as the play develops depending on the coverage. That's something that hasn't been replicated in a videogame other than Joe Montana NFL 1994 of all games. And isn't the pistol just a formation rather than an entire offensive scheme?

Either way, thanks to the devs for making this part of the game. This is a definite buy for me come July.

I like what I see. Still hoping for a halftime show. Either way I'm buying.

You know what I did go back and look at the some of the previews. I was incorrect on that, I guess I remembered the previews being different than what they actually were.

I will correct you on one thing though. You used the word reviews in your post. Previews are not reviews, as of right now we only have previews not reviews.

Great sounding previews still don't guarantee great reviews when a game comes out either. I may have been wrong about NCAA previews sounding as great as I thought they did the last couple of years, but there are still plenty of examples of other games not turning out how previews made them sound.

Like I said I will make the final judgment when I play the game myself. Certainly not going to base it on previews.

Nice vid! Are these ALL the offensive categories in the game? What about a pro offense or power I?

EDIT: Well Pro offense was confirmed in the OS preview, but I don't see it in the vid.
