Say what you want to say, but dang I love football and Madden> The NFL draft is my favorite time of the year and I love the hype that's associated with both the draft and Madden. Whether or not Madden 11 lives up to the hype is an after thought. It's all about the hype!

playing games in half the time sounds awesome, but if that means letting the CPU pick my plays you can absolutely forget it! The only way that would even come close to working is if I get to pick every play in the playbook (custom playbooks anyone?) because some of the plays in Madden playbooks are completely useless and no playbook follows anything that remotely resembles an actual NFL system.

So far, from what I have heard the only thing that gets me even sort of excited is the "alleged work" on WRs fighting for the ball and I can't even remember if that came from EA or some speculative source.

Point is - I am in a full on MO state of mind - like "SHOW ME!!!"
I agree, it scares the crap out of me also, I do not want my madden simple. I want to play the game not have the game play 90% for me. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Love the feature for the fact that when Im playing against the cpu, I hate calling my own plays due to there being to many that I know are gonna work. I use "Ask Madden" but its not that great (although it gives me closer games). It does some things like a draw on 3rd and 14 which I like cause I would usually try and pass for the 1st down.

This feature sounds like a upgraded version of "Ask Madden" So I am excited about it if its more geared towards what the teams would often do and depending on the down and distance. Its to easy to beat the cpu when you call your own plays (IMO)

I'll remain optimistic. The trailer is almost here.
It just doesn't feel like football to me with out it. It's like playing half a game. No reason to read a defense. Just find the guy running a straight route and throw it to him. *yawn*

Can't even read a defense properly if you wanted to (though I hope locomotion fixes part of the read problem) because of the passing mechanism, psychic DBs, and bad ball arcs that allow every LB and their grandma to jump up and make a pick.

(IMO)
Agreed. GameFlow is fine for new players and in offline mode. Definitely not for online mode.

Why not? I would love to play someone with this feature now because it gets rid of all the BUMS/Cheesiers that go to there cheap tatics to win a game. I've seen people dominate online with just a handful of plays.....Well now what happens when u are forced to execute the plays called for you? A true football fan/simulation player would have no problem at all IMO. Especially if the game is called as in a way that the team he is playing with really calls games.

IMO it forces the cheaters to play football the right way it is meant to be played. You cant FB dive all the time. You might actually have to learn how to play the game of football. Also what I love is once again if you are a true fan of football. When you play certain teams you know what to expect. You know certain teams tendencies. Is more a chess game IMO that way.

Seriously go play 10 play now games online........whats the results? Atleast 8 out of the 10 games the person you are playing is doing things that his team that he is playing with would not normally do. Or exploiting cheese plays. Take away their abilitiy to cheese and force them to play the way the team would play. Someone from CD said it perfectly in another thread. WHile he was the Patriots in 2nd and 14 they called draw (the patriots do this all the time) followed by a 3rd down screen to Faulk. Serious Question here: How many times would you have seen that sequence in a online match?.............NEVER!!! Cause people dont play according to how there teams play. There doing what works for the W.

Although I do not believe this will be the only way to play (of course
picking your own plays in still in) If this mode was available Online. I would become a HUGE fan of Onnline Madden.

No, because you still have the option to call plays normally, which is what most competitive players are going to do.

Then you are no longer playing the game. The AI is calling the plays, you are a bystander.

I diagree. There's simulation, and then there's simulation. You've gone too far IMHO once you are no longer playing the game. Removing a gamers ability to call a play is taking it too far.

Nope, they'll just go and play calls normally.

No clue. The game doesn't have a decent passing game, nor proper momentum to make reads. I don't see any reason to play it online.

I can see Madden 12 now. The slogan? Bring Your A-Game! New game feature... all you do is hit A to hike the ball, then sit back and watch. It's the best simulation EVER!

# 33 kmart2180 @ 04/23/10 02:06 AM
All Im saying is if you were to go play a game of Madden right now. Play 1 game calling your own plays. (Results will = a pretty easy win for you/whoever) Now go play a game with "ask madden" (Results will = maybe a win but alot more competitive game)

When you call your own plays you know what works (esspecially against the not so good AI in Madden) I can make Vernon Davis look like a god when I call my own plays cause its just to easy to do. When I "ask Madden" I find that I have less plays with VD being my main man. On a key 3rd down it might pick a run play instead of that easy Te drag that I know can get me that first down. It forces you to play through the Coach and not yourself.

# 34 bigball12 @ 04/23/10 02:14 AM
Can't wait for team play!

# 35 TheRunAndShoot @ 04/23/10 02:31 AM
Im not gonna bash this because I'll give the Madden team the benefit of the doubt unlike NCAA. Some things like improved O-line logic and better WR/DB interaction aren't really back of the box features.

BUT if this is what EA thinks we wanted in the game they've got another thing coming.

Absolutely, I'm right there with you. In M10 the ONLY way I played was via the Beginner play calling. I had no control over the plays called as that was the ONLY way to make the game competitive. I hated giving up that control as that's at least 25% of the game and a good 50% of the strategy.

Gameflow looks like it's taken a weakness of the game and attempted to make it into a strength. After having no control in M10, I expected them to fix the play calling AI so I could have a competitive game against the computer, not to pigeon hole me into what I HATED having to do in M10 and then try to convince me it's good for me. It's more realistic. I'm sorry, but no sale. Give me a better AI, that's what I wanted. Give me an editable playbook, that's what I wanted. Give me the ability to save games, that's what I wanted.

My sentiments exactly! I don't even know why I believed that "Deeper" could mean a deeper franchise. Offline as well as online need major upgrades! Offline just gets boring so quickly because of the lack of depth and immersion. They did a great job on Head Coach 09 in that department. Why not give us that in Madden? Online Franchise is a pain in the *** to organize because so many barebones features are missing ie. salary cap, online stat tracking etc.

Why keep putting out half finished modes instead of mastering an existing mode that the community has claimed multiple times over years to be one of THE most important parts of the game?!!!

Exactly.

If you want to get better at the game, figure out what you're doing wrong. what's the point of knowing the game of football if an 8 year old can pick it up and be told how to beat you, then do those things, and get lucky one time and beat you.

Not pleased at all with the features. I will never turn any of them on, just like I never used backtrack.
