Madden NFL 11 News Post

IGN has just posted an early peek into Madden NFL 11's quarterback ratings.

Quote:
"EA Sports held its annual pre-draft luncheon today and I was in attendance to take in the sights, sounds, and the ridiculous amount of NFL talent on-stage. Before the crowd sat a panel of former (and one current) NFL superstars that included Sterling Sharpe, who acted as host, Joe Montana, Dan Marino and Drew Brees.

It was a real treat to see three outstanding quarterbacks sitting next to one another discussing the game that they dedicated their lives to, but the real focus of the day was "Building the Ultimate Quarterback in Madden." To do this, they revealed the top six attributes when it comes to defining a quarterback's overall rating, which quarterback held the top mark for each attribute, and -- last but not least -- EA Sports revealed the top ten quarterbacks in Madden NFL 11."

This a top ten list bro. And are you kidding me. Russel has not done anything good since been drafted #1 overall a few years ago. He will have a low rating this year. He is way overpaid. He needs to be traded to a team that has a real good coaching staff that can help him get his skills up. That will not happen with the raiders. But because the way he has played since been in the NFL and because of his large contract. No team is going to touch him. He is wasting away in oakland.

I think Albert was being sarcastic with the J Russ remark

Not much, but info is info i guess.
Awesome article. I would love to see a break down like this for every attribute & position in the game.

ya but does it really do what they say it does?

I mean toughness - making plays with your heart??? when was that ever a factor in madden, seems like the descriptions are a little hokie pokie

Yeah, but it's far more than we have ever received before regarding the abilities. I'll take what scraps I can get of relevant information, even if some of it is a little hokie pokie.

WTH?!?!?!? Does EA even LOOK at stats????

BTW, i'm guessing a 75 or lower ovr. for Russell!!! And thats being generous on their part...

Seems I agree with the experts more than the Madden Dev team. Tom Brady has the most stamina?

Matt Stafford with the strongest arm? Clearly it should be Jay Cutler.

No, I'm not being biased. If he was still a Bronco I'd still say he deserves a 98 or 99. The dude really does have a cannon. Just needs to work on his awareness.

Exactly, easily better than Peyton Manning. It looks like EA screwed up on the ratings lol.

Ask Gisele....

Shouldn't Jamarcus still have the strongest arm? Did he lose arm strength since last year? Accuracy is obviously another story.

I would think that AWR is pretty close with Accuracy in importance

I would say it needs to be AWR 30 percent, accuracy 30 percent, throw power 20 percent and the rest factored in much smaller amounts

toughness/stamina like 2.5 percent total agility is the only other one on there that should be substantial but how does it translate in Madden unless you scramble?

Elusiveness for QBs coupled with agility could allow your QB to auto evade sacks and that would be really cool because the pocket juke crap hardly ever works.

Anyways, awareness should be much higher I think, not that the numbers they are giving out are actual, but if they are they are hugely under representing AWR in the OVR!!!
I agree on your breakdown.

Also, how are short, medium, and deep accuracy factored into OVR? What does the THA rating even do if we have the other ones?

Aaron Rodgers #4.

I love it. And I love that he's above Favre. Means nothing, but it still makes me happy.

I was expecting Jamarcus, Cutler and Flacco to beat Stafford in throwing power.
