"NCAA Football Dev Team:
The players actually have higher top speeds this year than last year (based on real life data). It takes them longer to get to those top speeds however so you really only see guys hit 100% speed after 30 to 50 yards (based on their acceleration ratings) I think the game feels very similar speed wise, just not twitchy. We've added a game speed slider so that you can tune it to your liking however."

We decided that a trip and fall was too much of a penalty.
What about in the rain or snow? Would it not be a fair penalty in slippery conditions?
I hope they made the right decision here, and maybe can add those falls and trips to poor field conditions.

hova57, great question about the catching. i have to say, i might be back to ncaa after taking years off. especially when i got to the bottom:

Chat Summary: In addition to many finer details and explanations about locomotion, the team did reveal that there will be a game speed slider this year, a welcome addition for those who have felt that the game played too fast in past editions. They also revealed that the catch de-bugging tool confirmed to be used in Madden 11 is being used to improve receiver awareness of sidelines, the endzone, and first down markers leading to improved, more realistic catch animations.

We aren't seeing shootouts in the games we are playing against each other now. When the system first went in at the beginning of the cycle before we had retuned the ai however...

THANK GOD!

Ahh, I noticed that mention in the chat. U bring up a good question about poor field conditions. I have a feeling that IF they were to add it, people would moan about it so it would definitely have to be a limited thing like the QB slippage thing in Madden during rain/snow. It can be annoying but it's real, though, so I would appreciate some of that when running the ball.

well, NCAA already has the QB slipping on their dropback and WR slipping on routes in the rain/snow. so, unless it gets removed when locomotion get added in, it should still be there.

I think they mean on defense.

wow if this the case playin with guys like reggie bush & percy harvin should be sweet!!!

This game sounds like it can be sweet! but lets see how this transfers from paper to when it goes gold!

We were just speaking on how the NCAA 11 crew stated that the trip and fall deal with the use of the new locomotion would be too much, basically. That goes for either side of the ball.

I was thinking that they should mix in some stumble animations for when u don't quite gun the sprint button then try to cut yet come close to falling but not quite falling so that people start to guage how to better utilize sprint/turbo and their controls for particular player types so that they don't fall...as much. Lol.

I wonder if big RBs like John Clay will still be effective with low agility?

I like this part:

what effect will locomotion have on spread offenses who utilize the read option?

NCAA Football Dev Team:
You'll see a more natural flow by the defense which will allow you to make reads appropriately.

It'll depend on how you utilize him. You're not going to be able to make a bunch of cuts and try to change directions several times. You've got to get him going downhill and keep as much speed as you can. There's somewhere in the chat where one of the devs says something along the lines of, "if you use a power back with low agility, you'd better keep him going North and South."

That caught my eye too. The way the read plays have been in years past I sure hope it would be a priority this year. And since they plan on doing team specific playbooks and schemes, the Read Option is such an integral part of a majority of college offenses. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the way the developer answered the question, it sounded like they knew they needed to address it. I sure hope I'm right. It just seems funny to play a college game and not be able to properly execute a Read Option.

This game really does sound promising this year. I'm not looking for a perfection but if it's solid football with some minor flaws I will be pumped!!!!

Why does EA always have to name real physics something like "Locomotion"? That has cheese and gimmick written all over it. Need to see it in motion 1st but it concerns me. Is this feature gonna put the defense at a disadvantage?

Meaning will there moves force defenders to go into some kind of miss tackle animation? Will I be able as a defensive guy to make a play without this happening? I see a lot of slip and fall animations coming out of this but I hope I’m wrong.

It depends on defensive ratings
