NCAA Football 11 News Post

A few weeks ago, the NCAA Football development team gave gamers everywhere a first look at some of the upcoming features in NCAA Football 11.

After a somewhat disappointing NCAA 10, the series needs some work if it is to ever to return to the lofty heights that were achieved during the last generation of consoles. With more information now being released on the NCAA Football 11 blog, I have decided to take a look back at the initial information that was revealed about the game and discuss what it all means -- or could mean -- for dedicated NCAA Football gamers.

Weither you love or hate the info released thus far. I think you have to be optimistic that these are all thing s people have asked for in a large volume.

I love the formation subs though. I can finally have the right personnel on my kickoff and kick return teams. I love detail.
Auto Save is not about dynasty games...Its all the other things like profile and settings. That were easy to forget to save. I know I was tired of breaking the same in game record every game I played like longest Kick-Off return.

If the "what it could mean" sections came true, I'd be impressed, but last year's what it could mean could have read like this:

Band is on the field!
What it could mean: More details like fan interactions, pregame warmups and more presentation in general.
What we got: Windsocks and half assed field goal nets.

I'm not optimistic until I see some features that really matter, not things that should have been in the game years ago.

I'm not a *****. I did enjoy gameplay last year a lot, but there have been so few improvements from '08 to '10 it's sickening. Honestly, what have we gained since then?

Please, can we get in-game saves??

Of course a game that is playable more than a month would be nice too. Also not a *****.....

As of now in-game saves is wishful thinking. That's a feature that's gonna be implemented in Madden first. Hope I'm wrong and you're right though.

This game should be an upgrade over 2010 no matter what. I for one, will def. be making the purchase after being on the fence about it the last few months. In game saves are crucial. Each game for me takes roughly an hour to play + 10-15 minutes of recruiting. Very time consuming. It would be nice to have the option to put down the game for a bit and run errands or go eat, instead of having to wait. I too am a stickler for all the in game details like revo speed helmets, towels, etc... hopefully they FINALLY put long hair in too. Adds more diversity to all the players on the field. Madden 2010 had it, why not NCAA 2011?

Nice article Chris. I really hope you're on point about impending presentation elements.

So glad formation subs are back in.

I think its almost safe to say that 90% of the animations in the game do not look realistic at all. The receiving animations are not really what a WR does, the running animations are flat out terrible, the passing animations are just silly, the blocking animations look like they have no clue how to block, and I could go on.

I really want to be excited but I'm not buying into EA right now. These minor (let's be real none of this are game changers) adjustments aren't peaking my interest. Last year I remember playing on Heisman and felt like the offense was so much more powerful than the defense I was constantly have to try and make up for the A.I.'s shortcomings on defense. More improvements in the trenches would be worth reading about but the fact that the refs are in the game don't really appeal to me. Gameplay should always come before presentation.

in all honesty, do you really think they are going to release the biggest updates/upgrades first? It's March.... they have 3 more months of info to release.

who gives a fly ***t about refs on the feild!! fix the run blocking animations and schemes. What a complete joke, seriously. I have fallen blind to the whole EA shirt pull over the head and let them pound on me trick year after year. I have had enough. EA get a clue and take a hard look at APF 2k8 and 2k5. With 2k animation and blocking schemes combined with their dynasty mode, now you are talking about a quality next gen football game.

Refs on the field are in no way important. Hell, I'd prefer if they weren't on there. I can't even count the number of times I was playing defense and thought the ref was a defensive back, or while I'm playing offense and i think a ref is a lineman or something. I just hope they aren't solid and you can run through them like ******, if they have to be there.
