OOTP 11 News Post

Out of the Park Baseball
has always attempted to be all things to all baseball text simmers. Want to replay past seasons, start a modern-day franchise or join an online league? It is all possible, and more, with Out of the Park (OOTP). OOTP 11 will soon be released, and it looks like the latest version will make the OOTP experience even more immersive.

OOTP Baseball is a text sim that puts you in control of a baseball franchise. The main feature of OOTP is the ability to customize the game how you want to play it. Whether you are into historical, modern-day, fictional or online play, OOTP lets you set your league’s rules, era, alignment, financial settings and so on to your liking. OOTP is generally acknowledged as one of the most in-depth text sims ever created. This makes the game difficult to summarize in a single paragraph, so let us just move right into the preview.

Also looking forward to it. Are you guys a part of any online leagues? I was in leagues from 6.0 through 9 and want to get back into some with this game.

Hopefully the extra week (release on the 12th) means the MLB rosters will be that much more correct. The less work on those to begin with means the more time to actually play the game!

Thats what fictional/historical games are for. Fire them up right at release.

I'm more excited about this project than anything: http://www.soxxcountry.com/

This project is going very well! By the time the game is released on April 14th we will already have a Face Gen set ready for the MLB2010 quickstart league provided with OOTP11. This set will have approximately 1500 face gen images ready to be imported in the game, including Managers!

In addition, we will also be able to release the initial version of our Historical Face Gen set. This set is currently in progress and will have over 2000 Face Gens included in this initial release including...

1) Every Hall of Famer
2) Every Player who appeared for the Expos even 1 game (Thank You AES!)
3) Any current Major Leaguer who was 28 years old in 2008 or later (culled from the MLB set)
4) A generic Face Gen for any player who there is no known picture (No more default picture)
5) And many many many more...

Again I have never played this series before... quick question: Do you get other job offers during your management career? If so... is it League specific? Meaning if i was managing is some obscure league in Mexico is it possible for me to get an offer for an American Minor League team, or even the MLB?

# 29 Matt Diesel @ 04/06/10 01:39 PM
I know you can get fired and then you have to apply for other job openings. I cant , for the life of me, remember if you get offers. You may have to actually apply to them and be unemployed. I need to fire up 10 to remind myself.

Thanks... yeah that would be great if you could find out... I have been scouring the web and I just cant find the info...
Also I understand that this game doesnt have the MLB license... but I also know that people set up team templates as well... are there any downloadable templates that will have team logos or is it just team color combos?

They will have logo and picture packs for MLB teams. I think they are almost done with the 2010 set.

Although it does not have the MLB licencesing, note that it does include the player database of professional players from 1843 - 2010 so you dont have to worry about that.

Also, as Xavier12 mentioned, the http://www.soxxcountry.com/ project will include every player in face gen format. If you check the site out you can see how awesome some of the faces look.

For logos and picture packs check out:

Have never played this but am very interested. I've played goalline blitz and Whatifsports Hoops Dynasty, any one know how this compares?

This game will be the best ever...several reasons why but here are my big 2.

Dynamically evolving leagues and Storyline generator...

Entering into manager mode where I start out with a small club as a coach and working my way to the top has always been the way I like to play the game. Now that world will be "living" in the sense that I will have to deal with rule changes, expansion etc. as a participant rather than an overseer. Also, once the community gets a hold of the storyline generator, you could see limitless stories being created about players and coaches. I haven't been this excited for an OOTP release since 6.5...

Who is starting the Operation Sports League??

Got mine. Played around a bit. I like the improvements.

Someone converted all the MLB2k10 ballparks so they can be used as the in-game fields for the game:
