NCAA Football 11 News Post

Check out the NCAA Football 11 blog with the Executive Producer of the game.

Quote:
"As a Michigan Wolverine fan, I want an NCAA Football that resembles the Saturday afternoon experience at the Big House. The sights, the sounds, and the traditions. (And of course, the return of a winning season. ;-) But it's not just about visual presentation. It's also making sure that my team - and all 120 FBS teams that we include in the game - look, feel, and play like my team. There are style variations across teams in the NFL but if you want to see true variety, it's all about College. We recognize that NCAA Football needs to more closely model and reflect those differences as part of gameplay.

Innovation

We've always had a history of innovation on the franchise. It was the first EA SPORTS game on Xbox Live back in 2004. In 2009 it was Online Dynasty, giving you the ability to compete with your friends across the country. Or last year's web-based team creator, TeamBuilder, where (amazingly) you guys have already created more than half-a-million custom teams! By the way, these teams will all work in NCAA Football 11 as well...

Before I came onboard the NCAA franchise, I worked on a number of online games and technologies across EA SPORTS and also led the team that helped bring EA SPORTS games to Xbox Live and Sony PSN. Without giving too much away, you can probably guess that online will be a big component of some of the new areas we're exploring this year."

I think from this blog we can narrow down what they included off of that list from a few months back (footplanting, team specific play, team entrances, etc.). Unless that's already been done? I've been away from a few weeks so I wouldn't know.
I hope by "Footplanting" they mean physics, collision detection and deflection.??

I agree that it seems like NCAA finally has a direction. I'm cautiously excited. Honestly though, for NCAA to meet its potential and be what most people here and I want it to be, it's going to take 2 or 3 more years. (I have very high expectations for what the game can be btw, probably too high) Knowing this, I can appreciate a solid improvement if they capitalize with NCAA 11 and will support these guys.

OMG, it sounds like this new guy here finally gets "it"

I said all along, I need to see effort. That's what Madden 10 had. It wasnt perfect, but the effort to make a big jump was there.

That's what I want from this series, it sounds like this guy recognizes the core aspects of this game have been broken for quite sometime.

I like what I hear so far. Either he's a hueg fan of the series himself, or he's been reading these boards.

He mentions online being a big part of some new features. Anyone think this could potentially be an online play creator similar to teambuilder? I know I've been preaching nothing but gameplay enhancements the last few times I've been on here; however, this would be a really cool feature.

I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up for any specific feature/addition, but I am starting to get excited for NCAA 11 overall. There was definitely a different tone to that blog. It didn't seem like there was near the amount of sugar-coating or tip-toeing around the fact that the next gen NCAAs haven't lived up to their full potential. It felt like they finally owned up to the fact that they could do better and are committed to doing so. I like what I'm hearing so far, and I really hope they can back up their claims.

IMO (and hope), this means better dynasty, authentic broadcast/atmosphere, and modes we actually want to see in the game.

I liked this the most:

For NCAA Football 11, we've gone back to the very heart of our football engine and made some major upgrades. Lots more to come on this topic; I promise the core improvements will be worth the wait.
What could this mean though? Will it play like an updated version of last gen?

I like what he's saying....BUT...I will wait to see it before I believe it. Anyways, it is nice to see "possible" progress.

I hope the info we get in the coming weeks and months match up what was said in the blog. There is a big difference in saying something and actually doing something.

For the first time in a long time I have hope. Hopefully this will be "the" year NCAA finally is the game we have been waiting for.

Sorry guys I'm just not totally convinced that anything is going to change. Talk is cheap, and until I see some hard evidence that this is going to be a good game, I'm still not getting hyped.

Of course for all I know this could be the best football game ever made. Its still March, so we'll see.
