My guess is that he's rated so high because you know his defense is maxed out and he probably has above average speed which factors in the overall rating altogether. He also had a pretty good season offensively last year.

Derrek Lee deserves to be rated in the top 10, IMO.

Maxed out defense.

He Defense is very good, top 3 IMO, but maxed out? I wish they were more conservative with their ratings. I like Madden's new approach to rating where you only have a 99 in something if it is HOF status. I hate seeing guys with 99 power, speed, arm strength, ect.

Well maybe not maxed out, but you know his defense will be superior to A-Gone's and Morneau's which helps put him ahead of the two.

A-Gone is the best fielding 1B IMO. Texiera #2 probably, and then then Morales, Morneau, and Lee in the #3-5 spots.

Tough to be superior to Adrian, unless Adrian's defense is a B+/A- range.

Also, keep in mind Lee had the inside track on plate vision over Adrian, as well as speed and baserunning ability/aggressiveness.

In all honesty, I think Adrian should be ahead of Lee. However, I can see why Lee might be rated ahead of him.

Derek Lee over Adrian Gonzalez?....what are they smoking at SCEA

# 29 Ecko25 @ 02/20/10 11:03 AM
I hate not seeing Morneau even in the top 9. But Aside from the 45 hr's each year from Ryan Howard, I don't really see him as anything special, when he strikes out one-third of the time at the plate. His average did come to me as a bit of surprise though.

The guy that you guys seem to ignore is Kevin Youkilis

Adrian Gonzalez is a two time defending gold glover at first (won last two years) and plays in a pitcher's park. No one in the world hit more homeruns on the road last year.

Adrian Gonzalez is a .310 hitter on the road, Petco kills him.

Dude's a beast.

Also, loving the two toned bats.

I was not aware of these stats on Adrian Gonzalez, point made and case closed. I think all I would do is drop Youkilis, move Adrian to his spot and put Morneau at least at 9 if not above Berkman and Lee.

But that is what is nice about games, we can adjust to how we see fit.

Statistics disagree with that statement. In fact, I retract suggesting he was the 2nd best fielding 1B.

You do realize that UZR doesn't even work properly for first basemen?
