MLB 2K10 News Post

2K Sports has posted another Major League Baseball 2K10 Developer Insight. This is part I detailing My Player mode, part II coming tomorrow.

Quote:
"One of the main goals that we set out to achieve in our design for the mode was to always be transparent and ensure that you understand what you need to do to progress through the mode. When you start out in the Minors, there is a clear list of MLB Call-up goals that you can see getting checked off as you meet them. Once you get to the Majors, you’ll get a new list of goals and career milestones that you need to accomplish to become a Hall of Famer (more specifics about the Hall of Fame system will be coming in Part II of the My Player Developer Insight). The end result is that you will have goals that are easy to see and understand, so you won’t have to just rely on an arbitrary meter bar and have to guess as to why/when it is increasing or decreasing."

Sounds pretty good. Pretty much just like NBA's My Player. I like having no commentary in the minors...cool touch (made the commentary all the more rewarding in NBA 2K10...I inagine it will be the same for MLB).

I don't like being rewarded/penalized for team goals like wins/losses, playoff sweeps, etc. Hate it in NBA 2K10, don't want it for MLB. If it were just for upholding your part, fine...but you have very little individual control if of how well your team does.

Overall though, it definitely sounds like it's worth checking out. I'll probably go the pitcher route if when I mess around with it.

Nice write up. I loved NBA's My Player mode. I just hope it doesn't has as many bugs in it. But, very nice to see how they are taking out commentary during Minor league games. Makes it so much more rewarding when you get to The SHOW (sorry, no relation.) and get to hear everything.

Keep this stuff coming.

I like that fielding cam, it reminds me of the ASB series. The only concern I have with this is that I hope they don't make it too easy to get promoted to the big leagues.

I like it. Now I just need to see some gameplay and I am sold.

Love this fielding Camera ! It made my day I cant wait to start my 5-tool Outfielder for the Tribe.

Dang, where to start ... I really like the atmostphere here. The crowd, Billboards and ads, the dirt and textures, dugout... (this is minor league too)
Am I the only one who is impressed by these screens? & what is truly going on within them

I'm REALLY impressed on how in depth this mode is. They seem to have covered most of the elements of guiding a player through the ranks and up to the majors and I'm eager to read part2 on the transition to the big leagues. I only PRAY that the execution isn't completely flawed, as I'm sure it won't be perfect.

That was a great read. No hype, just good solid facts.

I agree Dave. Can't wait to play.

I never thought I would be into a mode like this... but as info keeps rolling in, it's really starting to grow on me. Must be all the RPGs I've been playing lately, heh.

Anyone notice how good the batting view looked compared to what we have seen before?

# 11 Pared @ 02/19/10 02:32 PM
That's because it's not the same view. Some people will use this traditional view, others may like the new one this year.

I know its not the same view. Some people were worried about not being able to change the hitting view.

Ahh, got ya. That's a bit unfounded. No reason why you can't. They didn't do it in MyPlayer in NBA 2k10.

Since you closed my thread regarding the view when catching fly balls do you think we could find out if you can catch fly balls with that view in a regular game? Also, maybe they could share some light on how we follow the ball. That would be appreciated. thanks

Blitz, that might get answered in the Dev Insight on Fielding coming out next Tuesday.

Sounds pretty cool. I feel like I'm really going to enjoy being a reliever and being a position player. I like the idea of just jumping into games when you're making an appearance since this will be much easier to implement than it was in NBA 2k10, where you have to adjust the quarter length as your playing time increases to keep stats realistic. I think I can get into this My Player mode more so than I could with NBA's.

Trust me you aren't the only one. I REALLY REALLY REALLY LOVE the screens...
See...

The fielding view alone has me more excited about 2K's career mode than RTTS mode...
Can't wait to grab it

Ahh Im so excited to try out My Player. Gonna make both a SP and a CF. The whole "tracking the ball in the air" thing sounds really cool

Just one more week or so haha.

# 20 KeMiKaL @ 02/21/10 07:20 PM
just to know...
in rtts on the show, if you play as an outfielder, do you just run to a spot on the ground??
