I want to see gameplay of course.

I agree with a couple of people who posted above. I'd quickly talk about the "Everything you see on Sunday" goal. What went well last yr....what was left on the plate. And then start hitting how the EA team addressed those issues this year.

Key points (hopefully)

Making ratings count - A 58 rated LT should not dominate Demarcus Ware all game.

Trench work - Don't need to harp on this. It is well known the shortcomings.

Adding some sort of element of strategy to the game - They need to take the run/pass commit idea and take it to a whole new level. If I know that on 2nd and 4 the guy I am playing is going to run a PA pass then pre-snap I should be able to alert my team about it. If I guess right I am rewarded. If I guess wrong then I should give up rushing yards. The key here is to not overdue it.

Online franchise - It was a good start, but without free agency and a cap it is not everything we see on Sundays. So a quick snippet about that would be nice.

CB/WR interaction - Same as O-line. Needs some work.

Those would be my big ones. I know off-line stats for a franchise are important to people, but I get bored playing the CPU. Online franchise matters more to me.

Presentation. Then gameplay.

I could see a follow up to last year, showing how PA has been expanded, whether it's become functional rather than simply cosmetic (as was hinted last year).

Alright, so, what do I think? If I were in Ian's position, I'd use it as an opportunity to set the tone for 2011 and do a bit of a Madden 10 retrospective, revisiting the theme "Everything you see on Sunday". Look back at 10, identify what you accomplished and where you feel you fell short, and end the whole thing with one small way you're working toward that same theme. This is really about the 'what' rather than the 'how'. Here's what I'm happy with about '10, here's where I am not happy, and here's what we're focusing on. Then use that as a jumping off point for the blogs the rest of the way out.
Yep, what he said...

Making up stats?! lol!

I'd be up for some online feature improvements too.

Gameplay

# 28 earl_baldwin @ 01/26/10 10:20 AM
give us a 2k5 espn halftime show

# 29 Tico Da Great @ 01/26/10 10:44 AM
A couple of perfomances from artist on the madden soundtrack with the half time show being about 4 mins then hafltime highlights with play by play
presentation telling us about each play. Play by Play. And you gotta add cheerleaders to the game for the feel.

Guys he asked us about the halftime show and ideas not gameplay.
Im pretty sure Ian and the Madden team will work out the gameplay kinks.

# 31 Tico Da Great @ 01/26/10 10:48 AM
I dunno if ian will build a new engine from scratch guys?

It's never too early to start the hype machine back up.

I really want to hear about gameplay. If the gameplay isn't good, then what is the point of getting excited about presentation, franchise, online, etc.?

Need info about OL/DL interactions, sideline catches, momentum (defense overpursuing or a defender overrunning an angle), whether penalties will be accurately implemented for once (defensive pass interference is a HUGE part of the NFL, and it's almost nonexistent in Madden), kicking interface refresh, etc.

# 34 JohnDoh @ 01/26/10 11:57 AM
I would appreciate some info on planned gameplay and presentation improvements... thanks!

Gameplay and possibly some mid air collisions.

I really wonder if people know what they're saying when they mention they want no more canned animations (and I mean no offense to dfos81). If the Backbreaker Iphone App is any indication, I'll take a combo of both mo-cap and physics.

Yeah, that's pretty sad for lack of better word. Penalties have been hit and miss (mostly miss) for this generation of consoles.

I think you misunderstood the question, Tico.

That aside, I voted gameplay. I just hope everyone has their expectations tempered to not expect something juicy. I seem to recall many people up-in-arms over the Procedural Awareness blog last year.

While I know the information won't be substantial, I hope it's something that will generate some excitement. I was satisfied last year b/c I and everyone else knew we were getting additional information on a consistent basis. If you didn't like that blog, you could rest assured that another was soon coming. But that hasn't been promised for this year so far.

If information is not going to come as rapid as last year, I think Adembroski's line of thinking fits best.

franchise offline

# 39 GlennN @ 01/26/10 12:49 PM
Offline franchise first, with gameplay (especially OL/DL interaction) a close second.

# 40 Joey Sauce @ 01/26/10 12:58 PM
presentation that isnt repetitive and doesnt get old after 3 games, mix it up a bit - and for the love of god, better WR catching animations in every instance (sideline catches, diving catch attempts, josseling in the air with a CB, ect..)
