After an exciting start, the college basketball season is hitting it's stride as we near the Holidays. With Tournament time still months away, I thought it would be an interesting idea to run 2010 season simulations using both the newly released NCAA Basketball 10 and the 2 year old College Hoops 2k8 with an updated 09/10 roster set.

Not only was I interested in respective simulation results between both games, I was also curious to see come March which game produced the most realistic results. Call it a grudge match of the simulation engines if you will.

If you used the 360 rosters from here, it's not really a good time to do a simulation with them. The results would be messed up because the smaller conference teams still have their seniors from last year, and in general are rated higher but I'm not going to get into explaining why.

Great idea, but try it again in two months and I'm sure it will look a lot better.

I'm eager to see what this year's NCAA offering from EA does. I have the game and haven't simmed yet to the end of the season. Those are believable rankings and stats for the season, it's cool the CHOOPS is still relevant and better in many cases than NCAA Hoops 10

Pitt isn't even going to make the tourney, let alone as a #1 seed. I love CK2k8, but this is kind of a joke.

I'm curious to see what 09/10 roster set was used for this comparison?

this must be a powerful game. all these years gone by, and people still love it. I've never played it...might have to grab it one day.

San Francisco, #4 seed? Clemson, national champion? Arizona, national runner-up? I would have chosen to ditch this simulation idea after those results.

it was a fun read.

good read, but those rosters seemed jacked up

Yeah, whose roster was used, and if for PS3, which is the official and best roster?

This simulation is absurd. I am a Arizona Wildcat alumni and a huge fan of their basketball program. We might not even make the tournament this year! Our streak of 26 straight years in the NCAA tournament is in serious jepoardy!

I am interested in using those updated rosters to an 09-10 season. BUT... my big question is if you loaded those rosters to start a new season/legacy, were you using the 2007-2008 team schedules? Sure, each team will play conference opponents twice (like this year) but wouldn't title winners and losers and seedings be impacted by the non-conference games the 2007-08 schedules may have offered --- in that this year's schedule doesn't match the 07-08 schedule. In other words.. did the season schedules you played simulated with match this year's schedules for the teams? Again, I'm interested, but wondering about the schedules.

Many, many people love 2K8. And yes, there are many different roster sets available on 2K Share. Some sets are better than others though.
