MLB 10 News Post

Destructoid has posted their hands-on preview of MLB '10: The Show.

Quote:
"After I sent a few balls into Yankee Stadium’s short porch with Ryan Howard, Levine and I started up an exhibition game. He chose to play during the day in order to show off MLB 10’s daytime transitional lighting system. This year’s game had a dusk-to-darkness shift, but now, you’ll see the late afternoon shadows growing long and the sun getting lower in the sky -- in real time. It’s a subtle but impressive effect that’ll likely take you by surprise the first time you notice it. Weather effects are new to the series, too; our game was played in bright sunshine, but Levine told me that fog will envelop some games. And as you can see in the shot of Alex Rodriguez below, Sony has also given the game’s statistical overlays a face-lift, forgoing blue for black in the color scheme."

I hope that it has been improved enough.

.......Thank you SCEA for finally making this a priority

This is a huge personal victory for me and others that supported my Freedom of Choice poll

I have asked SCEA every year to at least separate your batting preference/difficulty from the overall difficulty setting for all the people that still want a challenge facing HOF pitching & A.I. but prefer to use easy batting

Do we get to select the COM A.I. batting & pitching difficulty too ?

Cool, can't wait to hear the improvements. Hopefully the current randomness of throwing accuracy will be eliminated and instead be a combination of player rating and user input.

He mentions weather effects. I hope this includes rain and snow, that would be great to have.

A good majority of us purchased a PS3 for this game alone.

I did last year for 08' and never looked back. And I got to enjoy a ton of other stellar PS3 exclusives.

My main purchase was for The Show, and it opened up another world of games. One of the best gaming purchases I have made.

As others mentioned, I hope weather effects like rain are in. The fog sounds yummy. I like how in 09 there was several different weather conditions/cloudiness and it effected lighting etc. Made for different feeling games and variety. The more the merrier.

The cloud shadows sound fantastic as well. Always loved seeing them in RTS games like Command & Conquer, etc.

Fielding should have been priority number one. I hate the script throwing in the game right now. If all we got this year is presentation and weather(lighting). It will be a complete disapointment. How much do we have to complain about fielding for them to fix it??

It was a priority but could not be completed in one development cycle. They are aware it is a pressing issue!

When it comes down to fixing something that does not work (online) or fixing something that works but is not that great (fielding), choices have to be made.

I'm the same way 66. The first thing I do is shut off all the cloggy meters, k-zones, icons, etc.. I just want to see the game

Will the PSP version have any changes similar to the PS3 version

I do too. But they can still make the button presses mean more when throwing a ball over to first. And I REALLY want to see more booted balls and bobbles this year.

Would like to know if the collision detection issues have been addressed. If so, a day one purchase for sure.

As posted earlier.

My guess is they made the animations better when it comes to collisions. Not exactly adding collision detection but more of avoiding the morphing effect we see with different animations.

Now this doesn't work for home plate because that's the point so for those instances in the baseball they will continue to be scripted animations.
