NHL 2K10 News Post

2K Sports just posted another NHL Developer Insights. This one focusing on the fraphical improvements for NHL 2K10.

Quote:
"Hi all, my name is Heather Marshall, and I am the Art Director for NHL 2K10. I’ll be giving you a bit of insight on this year’s graphics. Our goal for the art team was to create an authentic, realistic NHL game. The first thing we did was take a hard look at 2K9 to see where we could make the most effective improvements. In the gaming industry, 2K Sports keeps the core art team comparatively small, which makes for a very dedicated and talented group. Though it was a bit overwhelming to see the task at hand, I knew we could pull it off. With our tablet pens in hand, I believe we’ve created the best looking hockey game this company has ever seen!"

I noticed they didn't post a close-up on their cover boy, who, from the looks of the trailer, looks nothing like his real-life counterpart. Kinda sad.

You would never guess it by hearing everyone griping about the looks of the game. Such is the nature of pre-release hype, I suppose. The only stuff anyone can go off of is looks now.

Hell, even if they release gameplay videos, you'll have an idea but no definite answer. Like o6 said, "I see your gameplay video and raise you an actual demo." But I'm not holding my breath. Considering how long it took them to release information, I don't think that a demo is in the cards this year.

You're probably right. Another classic marketing mistake, unfortunately.

So does this mean you are going to stop your 2k7 seasons?

I think that I'm leaning towards 2k for my hockey game this year, 2k9 presentation and atmosphere kicked NHL09 arse all over the place, with better gameplay and less glitched 2k10 should be a hockey's fan wet dream.

I am leaning that way too but as orginial6 said I would like to try both demos first.

Yeah let's hope they are. Would be disapointing if they weren't

Ha! Never!

Just kidding. Yeah, whenever I do upgrade to NHL 2k10/NHL 10 (I'd like to get both, but money is tight, as usual, so I'd settle for just one), the NHL 2k7 playing will be over with. But just in case anything ever happens to my PS3, I'll keep the XBOX and NHL 2k7 around. But I plan on playing NHL 2k10 for just as long as I've played NHL 2k7, which my Flyers are into their 9th season now.

Hah, well it's been 3 years (NHL 2k7 came out in Sept. 2006). I really don't know how I played so many games, I just did it. I'm addicted to franchise mode, being able to draft and develop my players. I love my team.

cant wait for 2k10 to come out. The game is looking awesome and as a regular hockey goer( i mean attending devils games) its awesome to see that 2k really get the in game atmosphere correct to the t. I know the gameplay needs work but it wasn't as bad a the last 7yrs of madden( before 10 its great), and the overall game is great.

Good grief, Dylan. 2k7?!! I owned that game shorter than any hockey title ever. Imo, it was marginally better than 2k4. I always knew you were an odd duck. Must be that Philly air................right Flyermania?

Yeah, honestly, the game does suck. I had really enjoyed NHL 2k6 though, but when my disc stopped working, I opted to just patiently wait until NHL 2k7 dropped. I guess it was at this time that the next generation of consoles was coming out, so the current generation was starting to get ignored. NHL 2k7 felt kinda close to 2k6, so I stuck with it. I've gone through swings where I've wanted to get as close to a simulation as possible. But then things usually start getting frustrating and I end up turning it more into an arcade game. I bounce back and forth. In the meantime, I've built this dynasty with the Flyers. Into my 9th season! 4 Cups, baby!

I gotta get the classics back, though. NHL 2k3, NHL Hitz Pro, and NHL 2k5. I want to get them for that nostalgic factor. It's always good to be able to pop one of those games into the XBOX and play a game.
