NBA Live 10 News Post

IGN has posted their hands-on preview of NBA Live 10.

Quote:
"Shooting is all handled by one button this year. No more separate jump shot and dunk buttons as in the past. NBA Live 10 handles each contextually depending on where you are on the court, your left stick positioning, and whether you're holding down on turbo. From my experience it works well and behaves pretty much in line with what you'd want. If you drive to the basket and flick to the left or right on the stick, you'll get a pro hop layup to either side when you press the shot button.

General jump shots are now a timed release. Gone are the days of just holding down the button and hoping for the best (thank goodness). Fade aways are still a simple button hold, but I'll take what I can get. This new shooting method presents some difficulties if you've never shot with a specific player before. Different NBA stars have longer jump shot animations so you'll need to practice a bit to nail the timing perfectly. One cool addition to shooting that I nearly forgot to mention is that you can hold up on the left stick while you're shooting a jumper and your player will bank it off the glass ala Tim Duncan."

So again, you have full control over the receiver with this mechanic. So you can take control of him and turbo sprint him toward the hoop or wherever you want. We have offball movement first step animations so you can explode into a cut so to speak.

Sweeeet - this sounds like the ideal passing system that I have been waiting for years to see (looks like Live got there first).

So there are specific "offball" animations/controls that are exclusive to controlling an offball player? Will the user have access to all of the offball moves that are available to the AI-controlled offball players?

2k9 was probably the worst edition in the 2k-series, even at this stage(demo) Live 10 looks better than 2k9...

Agree! NBA 2K9 was a pretty solid basketball game. It was certainly better than NBA Live 09 IMO. I did like the DNA thing though from NBA Live 09. Thanks!

Definitely wasn't the worst in the series, but it was a step back.

2k9 was not the worse in the 2k series, It was one of the best animated games of last year, BUT it had horrible footplanting, AI, defence, just like it made live animations look like a joke, lives playcalling made 2k9s it look like jk. Online live included was a joke. I really hope both games learn from the mistakes live looks like it has I'm pretty sure 2k as well can't wait for the demos.

Was this for me? I never stated that NBA 2K9 was the worst in the series. I said it was a solid basketball game. Maybe you intended this for the other poster that said it was the worst in the series. I like the game & can't wait for NBA 2K10. Thanks!
