NCAA Football 10 News Post

Check it out, over at ncaaStrategies.

Quote:
"ncaaStrategies have devised a method to help the community determine where they want the direction of the NCAA Football series to go. Using a March Madness style tournament, 64 wishlist items will be pitted against each other before ultimately proclaiming a victor. This tournament will help us format a list to provide to Tiburon to let them know what we as a community want out of this series.

To participate, simply vote in the matchup polls that are posted in the ncaaStrategies Feedback Forum. Be certain to read the description of each item in the matchup before voting so that there is no misinterpretation.

We ask that anyone who has an opinion on the series participate and also to spread the word throughout the community. We're excited about this and believe this will finally help make our voice more clear not just for NCAA Football 11 but for the franchise going forward."

I definitely thought and proposed that before we started the tourney, but jobob and gschwendt had the right idea - no matter how popular an idea is, let's show exactly how wanted it is.

Thanks for posting this here, Steve! We're hoping we can get all of the NCAA Football community to vote to get a definite list for what we want to see in the franchise in the future. It's been fun to track so far and we're just four match-ups in.

Give us what Madden 10 delivered this year.... A football first video game & cut the BS that seems to be the focal point of each dev. cycle. Is it really that hard to understand? We don't need polls comparing More Mascots to Custom Playbooks.. We've been asking for the same things for years now. They know what we want. They just can't/refuse to put some of the things in.

No offense to the ncaa strategies guys, but imo this is a really stupid idea & will end up being practically the same wish-list we come up with every year...gameplay & dynasty elements at the top and cheesey modes at the bottom.

I whole-heartedly disagree. For those that have posted their 1-68 on the site, my list would look completely different. Even just my 1-10 wouldn't even have the same items.

The development team is not just catering to one subset of users and they're certainly not catering just to the vocal minority. They have to cater to the mascot mode guy on up to the guy that plays straight on Heisman and still blows out Florida using Idaho.

Yeah this was a great idea and hopefully it shakes out well. I wonder how many new users may sign up for Utopia now

Here's the Jaymo76 top 10.

1. Formation Subs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

**** NO OPTION ON THIS ONE^^^^^

2. FCS teams
3. Pre game show / players warming up
4. Customizable playbooks
5. Refs and Coaches on the field
6. Stadium rumble with player skill/composure bubbles
7. Heisman Ceremony
8. Spring Game
9. Selecting your captains (O and D)
10. Player discipline

Now I've only been playing NCAA for close to a decade... NCAA football is my favourite series and NCAA 06 is the best NCAA ever... so what could I possibly know about college football gaming You may notice things not on my list: season showdown, game-planning... hmmm...

Odd how all the things on your list (except for #9 and maybe 5, IIRC) were in the game at some point

All of these features were in 06 and 07 on ps2, including choosing your captains AND having refs and coaches on the field. Yes the game has declined that much... I keep waiting to hear year after year that the "greatness" will be back but now I am more resigned to the fact that the glory days of NCAA are gone and may never come back again

Good points.

I would have 2 tournaments. One for gameplay/sim issues and one for presentation/graphical issues.

For example, the team responsible for "new playbook in practice" would be different than those putting in new mascots.

Great point. On the field areas (gameplay) come way before other areas, but they are two separate teams, which is good in a way.

Thanks for posting Steve!

I want formation subs but it isnt #1 on my list!

# 13 gschwendt @ 08/21/09 12:14 PM
We plan to have another polling & discussion regarding gameplay tuning among other tuning aspects (sliders, position changes, etc.). Since those things happen every year and happen a hundred times each development cycle, we wanted to keep that separate.

Its funny Madden added most things people wanted on there wishlist and NCAA list. So you cant say they dont know they just have their own agenda!

My top thing is better physics(a la Madden)

Yes, junit, gameplay is crucial to NCAA Football. However, every year on next gen the development team has neglected the most basic aspects of the dynasty mode (presentation, atmosphere, etc, etc.) What I am saying is you can't have one without the other. Continue to tweak gameplay BUT for NCAA 11 give some major, major focus to dynasty mode. If a game palys great but is boring to play, why would I want to play the game longterm?
