Madden 2010 News Post

Madden NFL 10 is finally here. I have to admit that the juices started to flow as soon as I heard John Madden say for the first time, "The time to make history starts right now." The intro, which features the cover athletes Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu, might be one of the best Madden intros ever, and it doesn't stop there as Madden puts it, "I have a feeling, this one is going to be special." Could he be right? Read on to find out.

nice review, however i disagree about the simulation / franchise stats. people have confirmed that the tackle stats are flawed and there's some sort of glitch. tackle assists are not being counted towards total tackles and it's resulting in lower tackle stats.

I agree about the pursuit angles, they are surprisingly bad (especially if you're holding A for defensive assist). I don't remember this being a problem in 09?

I feel the same way, I just can't stop playing it. Especially that now the sliders actually work, that's all I think about at work..lol

That being said, I wouldn't give the game anything above a 9. They still have a lot of work to do, but this is a GREAT foundation to work on.

Great Review...I think it needs to be stated that if Madden can pass 2K5's Presentation, they own the title. Hands Down...but they need to change that Extra Point because it is pretty awful. Nice touch but not the needed effort! But I fully support a 9/10!!!

To say that this is the best Madden this generation isn't much. Since the launch of the 360 and PS3, football games have been terrible but people swallow the BS that is forcefed by EA and acclaim it as a great game. I have also heard that the improvements have made the game hard to have fun which is important to me when I pull my $60 out of my pocket. I don't have 10 yet and from what I have seen it is a huge improvement over 09 which was unplayable and sold after a month. I'll reserve all judgements until a copy is in my hand within the next few weeks.

Great review.... now, if they can put together a patch that corrects the issues with the AI and the penalties - it could absolutely push this game into rare air - ala MLB the Show territory.

I don't want to be too hard but a 9 to this game is IMHO waay to much.

Just few things:

- Running Animation and player movement are horrible
- Commentary is flat and repetitive
- Interaction between player (WR/DB) is decent at most

With the budget thet EA has for those games they MUST deliver better games.
If this game is a 9's, APF 2k or NFL 2k5 are 10's

Regards

Nice review, very fair like I've come to expect from OS, well most of the time. I'm finally excited about Madden and actually think that when I get the game I won't feel ripped off this year. The past two years I fell for the hype machine even though I told myself I wouldn't only to get burned and mad that I trusted EA. The bad pursuit angles should be fixed with sliders I'm guessing as well but the defensive sliders are broken? Patch. I would like to see those nice tip toe ballerina sideline catches but I'm letting that slide till next year. Plus the off sack stats are a bit discouraging but it could get fixed with sliders, and I would like to see better O-line next year. Overall I'm willing to take Madden for what it's worth this year, a decent football game that can be improved upon, but I find comfort in knowing EA tried this year and listened to what fans wanted. First time I've said this in a LONG time but good job EA, and I'm very excited about Madden 11. That will be the best football game ever if you can fix the mentioned problems, add some better physics, and polish that halftime & weekly show. Better than my beloved NFL2k5 dare I say. Next target EA, look at All Pro Football's gameplay/physics and prosper!!! Again good job.

Could just be me, but I think some people are WAY too hung up on the score, and didn't read the review.

READ first, then look at the score.

Steve very realistic review. I haven't played the game yet, but I do appreciate how you go about your review.

It is presented in a realistic manner.

Nice Job!!!!

Here's a second link for the guys at work that can't read the main link at osatwork: http://www.osatwork.com/review.php?id=495

Edit: Very nice review Steve! I haven't played the retail version yet although I know I won't be playing on the slow setting. Just too slow for me when playing the demo.
