"Very impressed. AI looks outstanding.

My favorite part is the actual foot planting and skates digging in on changes of direction. No ballerina warp skating.

And those arenas are ridiculous!"

I like the window showing the players coming onto the ice. Just another touch of authenticity for this game.

It looks neat.. but I think it would get in the way of the action on the ice.

Thank god it's optional, something 2K is usually pretty good at, giving us options.

Damn it 2k...all this time I bitch and moaned about no info...and sit through lame *** teasers...you are actually putting out a hell of a game...

IF...

1. To along with these beautiful arenas you combined some killer crowd energy--something you've not paid much attention to in the past. For example, what does the Home crowd do when the goal is scored by the Home team???

I was sitting on the fence. With this video 2k Sports took out their BB gun and knocked me right off the fence, in a good way. Looking forward to hopefully hoisting Lord Stanley's Cup with the Blackhawks in 2k10.

Matter of opinion bro. Yeah, NHL10 is going to be a great game, but there is nothing wrong with those of us that feel the same way about 2K10. Many of us will probably end up with both on. It's obvious by your user name where you stand, so keep to the EA forums if you can't be objective and or constructive.

You are right Eddie!!! I am a fence sitter....Finally some info after I was in the other thread pissed off because I thought gamespot would have something today... Well they did turns out around 8pm EST...

I can't believe how nice those arenas look... I want to see some raw game footage though. But this is definately a good start. I just hope we get more info next week. I am curious about the announcers and how they will perform

Did anyone else notice something small (but awesome) in the franchise portion of the video?
When the user is scrolling through a number of available players, look at the top where the position is listed. In a few of them you see "RW/LW", "RW/LW", etc.

So does this mean that 2K10 will be the first hockey game to actually have multiple positions for certain players? Awesome!

Didn't notice that but I went back and looked, that is awesome.

That was just a very good video in all. This is the first time we've really had an overwhelmingly positive thread for this game... ever!

I really think this game could be something great this year. Despite all the marketing BS ("multiplayer party mode" type stuff), I think this game is going to be very solid at its core. Definitely pumped for the game after this video.

I really like that line change window showing the guy hitting the ice. I think that's a great little presentation thing. But I do have to agree, it's going to get in the way. Heck, the little line change menu has gotten in my way before, now it's going to be a huge box. It'd be great if it was a "smart box" and popped up as far away from where the puck is as possible. But it's great to know it will be optional. Thank you to Shadow for that nugget.

Great video...AI looks improved from what was show in the video. While the pop-up screen is a nice touch, hopefully it can be toggled on on/off as it would be distracting for me.

2k10 looks to be coming along nicely...I hope more videos like this are coming!

Thanks...just saw Shadow's reply. I figured it would be as 2k is usually really good about giving the user a lot of options.

2k9 had it, maybe after the roster update or if the user switched them but it is deffo in there.

The new franchise features looked awesome. I couldn't really tell much from the gameplay though. It didn't really look any different from 2k9 to me. D-men still back up way too much, skating still looks awkward and players still catch the puck on their backhand most of the time. Sorry, I don't think I've been this apathetic about hockey games in years. Nonetheless, looking forward to some full-out gameplay vids to really show any ai improvements made.

So you didn't notice that there was no longer 2 or more players always chasing the puck carrier and instead were playing more man to man?

# 36 buzzguy @ 08/08/09 07:06 PM
Decent preview! My interest in the series has returned!

# 37 savoie2006 @ 08/08/09 09:08 PM
Yeah, but who knows, maybe the players and such look better in person than on a video. That said I agree the player models should have come before the Arenas, but oh well. If the gameplay is solid, I'll take it.

# 38 ComaFaction @ 08/08/09 10:38 PM
Arenas look absolutely amazing. Graphics looks good, classic smooth 2k gameplay. I'm still not a huge fan of their goalie models though, but they animate nicely.

The AI seemd overly passive in its zone, but I reckon that is a lower difficulty level. The game speed was almost perfect.

The puck (especially with the shadow) looks enormous to me, though. Aaaaaand, the last replay of video was sick...looked like a TV highlght. I bought both games last year and vowed to only by EAs this year, but now I'm not so sure.

I'm not talking about hunched over players. I'm talking about skating animations and the odd animations. Case in point, at 3:32 game clock of the Sharks/Kings footage, the Sharks throw a puck at the net and a teammate skates in front of the shot as a screen or for a deflection. He skates right into the boards and then magically skates backwards back to the front of the net. Totally unrealistic and just odd looking. 13:39 of the same matchup, a Shark tries to check O'Donnell at the point instead of playing positionally and blocking a potential shot or pass. Needless to say, he misses the hit miserably and is now horribly out of position. Personally, I've never noticed the two player chasing the puck that much in 2k9, unlike in 2k8.

Sorry fellas, from my personal point of view, the game doesn't look that much different. But, who can really tell from a few quick clips?

All I can say is WOW. This is one of the things that drives me crazy on 2K9 for the 360 and it happens constantly.

This I did notice, but we'll see if it's a common occurance on the full game or not.
