NBA Live 10 News Post

EA has thrown up another NBA Live 10 blog. This one talks about player movement.

Quote:
"It’s time to talk about NBA player movement. No, I’m not talking about this year’s crazy off season of free agency and trades (I still can’t believe how much the top teams improved). When I say player movement, I’m talking about the motion of the individual players on the court. It’s no secret that NBA players are some of the most graceful and fluid athletes in the world with their explosiveness, agility, and co-ordination.

Past versions of NBA LIVE haven’t been known for having the most fluid and authentic player movement. We wanted to change all that for NBA LIVE 10 and it all started with our new approach to MoCap. I’ll blog about that at a later date so I won’t get into details but I will say that we brought in a bunch of NBA talent to make sure we were getting the most authentic motion possible. It was critical that the guys we brought into the studio moved closer to what you’re used to seeing in real life.

So, when we were capturing movement we paid special attention to off ball motion, ball handling, and guarding the basketball. Our focus was on getting the off ball motion to a level where it was more believable and authentic than any basketball game on the market. We wanted to see the players in Live cutting to the basket, curling the baseline, spotting up for scoring chances, and spacing the court.

The videos below give you guys an idea of the type of animations that we put into LIVE 10."

We're releasing things slowly, we've said this from the get go.

If any of you are expecting a 2K dump of info where we put 172398072107980 things in one article, that's not happening. We want to talk to you guys every day, every week, not every month. This makes us able to do that.

We had fundamental problems in gameplay this year. We're telling you guys a story by showing you the building blocks of what's going to make our game good this year.
It's alright Marcus... patience is a virtue

I personally am not mad because info is info but the NBA live team has something to prove to us ... couple that with expectation of hearing that there will be gameplay vids next week (last week on twitter*) and you get a bunch of gamers overly excited.

What few animations we saw looked smooth. However I still have to see it running in the game. Madden had a blog with a locomotion video as well, but in the end the game's locomotion didn't turn out to be like the video because they had to make cuts due to some problems. It's great to see that these things are being worked on, but an in-game 5 on 5 gameplay video will show if everything truly runs that smooth. Still solid info today, and the possibility of one more thing. Maybe Dime? They said they had info coming this week. Matt Lafreniere also said there would be a presentation video this week. So maybe that's the next news today.

Back on topic. Definitely a kool blog. Everything looked sick. Can't wait to see more. I hope everything looks this good in game when I'm controlling it. Still have to see the lay up and dunk animations, but so far Live is a winner.

Wait. So there telling me that when I go into the paint and do a crossover I wont be suctioned into the defender and I wont have to do a killer crossover. If this is true this gonna be sweeeeet!!!

Cant wait to be Chris Paul and just squeeze my way through the bigs. Also cant wait for the next peice of info today.

last week it was said that we would see gameplay vids this week, and now at the end of the blog jeff said we would see gameplay vids next week. I mean the blog was nice but the guard, forward, and center stepbacks and spins looked the same. I thought there were differentiation between the players. I just hope when yall finally show the gameplay vids w/the real players that there is differentiation between the players w/the dribbling.

So u must hate 2k10 then don't you? You wont be buying any game??? Ea has shown more then 2k has and we all know how stingy they are with releasing info...
