I hang out a lot on the UK Fifa boards and you have your share of disgruntled fans over there, but it has been said that this was an older build, so it's not really something to take too harshly. But long story short, the PES fans are never really gonna appreciate Fifa and mostly vice-versa. The only PES I really liked was Winning Eleven9 which I have for my Xbox and can play backward compatible. But since they've come up with a gameplay speed and a stagnancy that I find the Fifa approach vastly superior to. And please don't get me started on the ugly menus and terrible music....

I'm not trying to bash PES too hard; but, to me, it just reeks of generic, and since I really don't prefer the gameplay style or lack of advanced controls like Fifa has, I'll let the PES guys enjoy their chosen game in peace. I'll give the PES demo a shot to see if it's changed, but chances are it'll be more Fifa for me!
Well, I just meant that their and we here had the same info (early buid) but nevertheless reacted totaly different

I changed games twice now...I started with the old rubbish but fun games and then with the ISS series for SNES...then I switched to the FIFA Games, which were amazing in their time...remember Fifa 99? Classic, great game to me.

After that, I was bound to every PES game and wasn't able to even stand the Fifa versions....the presentation was always better, but gameplaywise PES was way above FIFA IMO.

Sadly, 2007/2008 was terrible as both games sucked

I had to admit that I tried Fifa 09 quiet late, but from that moment I was kinda addicted
Especially on complete manuall settings, it's n unbelievable great game.
So I definatly can't wait till october...will be hard times....a bit cured due to Madden.

I don't think that I will try PES at all. My impression is that Konami is in a similar situation like 2k with Basketball...they used to have a succesfull game and used to be better then EA...even with worst technologie.
And exactly that has changed last year/ will change this year.

Fifa 10 is my personal "Game of the year"-prospect Nr.1

I would have to agree with shadox. Unless Konami pick their game up, FIFA 10 could be my choice this year as well. 09 was a solid game, but it had some gameplay problems - even with all manual settings - the AI still played the same - of course the MM mode issues have been beaten to death - so I'll leave that out as a game breaker.

I think FIFA 10 is really going to something solid from I'm hearing so far about the MM renovations alone - can't wait till October to be perfectly honest.

I totally agree with the NBA2k analogy. Konami and 2k are going to have to make the tech leap to be able to compete long term. What was "wow, did you see that?" a few years ago is looking really dated in both repective titles. A lot of people find it cool to rag on EA, and a lot of it is for good reason, but in the games where they have really made the investment, you can see it paying off in excellent games. I am actually hoping that Konami and Seabass have stepped it up. I'm not a ***** and realize that competition is good for everyone involved, especially us.

Here you go Matt, before they find this one too.

It's the same vid as before!

Nice!

Noticed you could edit teams. This will finally help with my hatred of the out of the box ratings. Maybe they'll have it where you can share rosters through the locker. There is one thing I've heard about that I can't wait to be revealed. Has to do with Clubs....

I think it looks like FIFA 09 with smoother animations...that's really all I see that's important.

# 28 marcoyk @ 07/29/09 01:27 PM
There's no way that's the final pre-game presentation. Everything was the exact same as 09. But the gameplay did look nice. That 360 degree control looks promising.

Major thanks for the video Brian!

The animations looked really smooth, the presentation was virtually the same.

Thanks for the video Brian!

Well, the crossing needs work - seems to travel way too slow in the air, and I am not seeing actual runs from the forwards to get on the end of them.

The animations look fantastic, the ball seems to travel with a "bump" a bit more - not so much like carpet like 09 (or PES 09 for that matter). It looked a bit easy to pass through the defense, hopefully that is addressed because there should be a lot more pressure.

Again, the dribbling and running animations look fantastic. Think EA listened to my complaints about how in 09 and 08 players dribbled the ball with every touch, meaning both feet would make contact with the ball no matter which way you dribbled.

Digg it.

And that vid is still a 65% build.

Also...as usually on "official" gameplay vids...the players hardly know how to play FIFA.

# 32 RoyceDa59 @ 07/29/09 05:17 PM
Thanks for that video Brian. I think Fifa is heading into the right direction, but I have to really play it to get the feel of it. I didn't really enjoy Fifa 09 that much, but thats because I might not have gave it a full chance seeing as I am too use to PES. I am really hoping that Fifa 10 is going to be a great game, because I hope it will give Seabass and the boys at Konami a reason to high tail their technology in the right direction.

As long as Fifa 10 tries to implement easy interface to editing stats and team formations and such I will be happy because I found Fifa 09's to be a complete mess when trying to edit certain things to my liking because I am a stickler for this I am also not a fan of Fifa's player models, they have always looked strange to me but I willing to overlook this as the animations in the game are really smooth. But here is hoping that this game will turn out great, if they fix the Manager Mode like they say they will I think it will be great.

I believe that it is October 2nd for Europe, and October 20th for America.

That's just a first vid. Glad you liked it. I'm getting ready to buy me a new toy for Fifa10 that'll greatly improve the visual quality! http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr.html

The Hava Wireless HD I bought off of Wepeeler is cool, but I'm ready to step up to big-boy full 720p status. Think Fifa10 will be worthy of that! Now I've just gotta come up with some goals like Blax or my boy Wepeeler or Hjerpseth can do. They are dogs, I'm just a squirrel trying to get a nut.

Marius Hjerpseth

My boy Rob (Wepeeler)

Oh, BTW, did I mention those are guys on the Fifa Club that I belong to?

# 36 Whitesox @ 07/29/09 10:39 PM
If I ever do a video like that (I'm trying, just need the right equipment...) It will definately be with more than one team, and showcase some leagues with a little less talent, rather than just teams with top tier talent. Not nocking any of the vids, they were great. Some real skill there.

That's the ticket. My plan is to get together some good tutorials. EA is really lax about that. Some of this stuff just plays out so much better in the visual medium for instructional purposes. I really feel that if the investment was made to really teach guys how well Fifa can be played, this game would reach Madden-like status, even in the Footie-challengened US of A. BTW, the Hava will be available shortly for a very good price.

P.S. Oh no, I've become a "troof chaser!"

So about this Hava...how long is shortly? And how much is a very good price?

Any other suggestions? I am having a tough time finding anything that isn't super expensive, and I am trying to find something that is sold in stores, as I am not a fan of ordering off the internet.

EDIT: Anyone use this? That looks like what I might buy.

I have the HAVA. Got it off Woot.com for $79. Setup can be a little tricky but it's pretty good for the price.
