As much as I love to see 2k embrace AO, that move will never, ever be replicated again in a hockey game and I'd hate to see it become a (press X + B + Y + right analog left) kind of thing that I a) can replicate if I practice and b) replicate with regularity.
Hopefully it's just a screenshot to show new goalie models and players. And hopefully we get more info soon. I'm buying EA's game no matter what, but if 2K shows me that their product is solid as well, I'll check it out. Here's to some actual info in the next couple of days, and not just Ronnie posting (info next week!) for the 100th time.

This is something that baffles me, honestly. Everyone talking about how they remember when 2K was amazing!! C'mon people, this series has NOT changed that much, other than losing the ESPN license with Thorne/Clement. Then stripping down 2K8 or whatever, so VC could try to rebuild the series. I put money that whole deal was to appease the casual consumer and all the critics of 2K's so called complicated controls. Probably not VC's idea either.
Gameplay wise though the series has pretty much remained the same. They have made some improvements, but the core gameplay has remained intact. This is what kind of baffles me about people saying 2K has gone downhill. Ok, so they were stupid with cinemotion and crap like that, but that didn't concern the gameplay. The AI has always had its issues, the franchises have always had freezes and bugs, geez. So really what has changed so much?
The answer? EA! Up until NHL 07 and really even then EA was utter crap. I mean CRAP!! All they cared about was churning out some arcade hockey game with some added fluff. Geez, so no wonder why 2K appealed so heavily. The competition was pitiful. Look at EA now. The same company that wouldn't join Xbox live at first, now with the EASHL. The company that didn't seem to give a rats about its community, now, not only listening, but trying to implement. NHL10 finally implementing board play and innaccurate passing. Something 2K has had forever. Plain and simple folks, it's the competition, making a serious run at sim hockey that has everyone looking down at 2K. Not only that, but looking good in the process.
Yeah, 2K has some blame in all of it too. After all, they haven't been very visually appealing since going next gen and I think that has turned alot of people away. Overall though, gameplay wise I think the series is mostly in tact, with the exception of some clunky controls. That's expected thought when you are trying to implement something new like that(in back to back years). Heck EA's skill stick wasn't paradise at first either. That's all!

After months of waiting and watching EA release interesting stuff like "gm mode" we 2k faithful a rewarded for our patience with a hi-res screen shot of Ovechkin on his a**! Nice! I hope that screen shot is not representative of the game this year...
Could've called people would be worrying their little hearts away because they don't want to see the on the back shot animation... We already got a tidbit via 2khockey.net that it's rare. Let's put that to rest.

Do I think NHL2K10 will be the best hockey game ever? Most likely not, but I'm sure it will be an improvement over 2K9 in all facets. All I know is I will most likely play both games this year as always. I hope that whatever info 2K does have for us gets here soon.

Hey guys Noon PST, the second screen shot revealing yet another feature. This obviously is Ron's way of having fun.

Realm I agree, but really at this point, I'll take what I can get. It may not be the flood that EA has hit us with, but at least it's something. The whole guess the feature from the pic, I think is just Ronnie having fun at the expense of the community. I also have read that IGN is suppose to post some info today, don't know the truth in that. It was Peng over at 2KHockey.net, so it very well may be true.

Rumor has it the new feature that's to be announced for NHL2K10 today will be first person handshakes. This to match EA's first person fighting.
Looks pretty cool to me.
Looks like a new protect the puck type of feature.
Check out the D-Man though. Is he trying to lift the stick or just poking away with his stick?
