FIFA 10 News Post

I can never go back to playing FIFA 09. That’s the thought that went through my head when I played through my first game of FIFA 10 at E3. I didn’t publicly say that at the time because I didn’t want it to be hyperbole for the sake of hyperbole. But after playing FIFA 10 for the second time, I don’t think it’s even hyperbole to say such a thing -- it’s just the truth.

The moment you take a step onto the practice arena pitch in FIFA 10, I truly believe you will feel the same way. I say that because of the 360-degree dribbling, tied in with the minute movements that come with full player control, really does change the game for the better. After all, when playing any sports game, having more control of your players is never a bad thing.

it's pretty ridiculous that you suggested an american fan can't possibly be a fan of the EPL. thats ridiculous. a lot in the EPL wouldnt be where they were today if it weren't for foreign viewership.

that would be ridiculous if i had suggested that. i only was stating the fact that there is a disdain for untied fans that are not from manchester... nothing more, mate. actually, i think the disdain is ridiculous. not sure where you got the conclusion that i said "an american fan can't possibly be a fan of the EPL." i guess i need to type slowly.

There will never be a perfect video game. Can't please everyone, so people will find complaints no matter what! Maybe those with all these complaints need to play differnt people. I know you wouldn't be scoing no 7 goals on me!

Just curious since I haven't delved deep into the FIFA series in awhile. But do they have stuff like the CONCACAF Champions League and SuperLiga? How deep does playing with a club go in terms of real life scheduling, cups, and tournaments?

But I guess a lot of the target audience isn't really very familiar with the actual sport.
Actually although I've only seen games occasionally I feel like FIFA hasn't emphasized "tricks" enough. Nothing wild, but I see lots of fakes/misdirections in real life but in FIFA the computer seems to never try a fake at all. It is only passing/moving which is great but I see more flair in actual games

The CPU is supposed to use skill moves in-game next year.

Thanks for the informative preview. I just discovered this site (via ign.com) and I look forward to more of the same...it's great to see posters that are knowledgeable, as well.

It's funny how all of you guys are typing Man U, but I got attacked for typing that on the Red Cafe forums.

(Back on topic) I think a big issue that needs to be fixed is a loose ball in the air near the goalie. I remember I was playing a game in manager mode up 2-1 in the 88th minute when the opposing team gave an early cross into the box. The ball popped up in the air off one of my defenders and was floating in the air where my goalie was standing watching it. Instead of everyone running over there to box out this one striker, everyone sat there gazed int he ball and I couldn't control any of them. The attacker was the only one who was really moving, heading the tying goal.

Another thing that should really be fixed are issue with your team not taking proper routes and constantly moving. Even when you put it on the most attack heavy settings for your team, they sit there and watching you dribble around a defender and only move when you are finally past the defender instead of running to the open lanes to make a through ball a more feasible option.
