that was impressive.
i just wish you had the option to not fight in first person, and more than one fight could happen at the same time.
Other than that, I just hope its easier to create a team and edit your own players in there.
And hopefully the simulated stats are more accurate.

Man I think everything looks great, especially the fighting. When EA first released the idea of first person fighting I was highly skeptical. I thought it would be a crap gimmick that looked and played like rubbish. From the look of the video it seemed fluid and believable. The players were bobbing and weaving at a believable pace and the punches were hard to land (which will make the engine playable and skill based.) My only concern with the FPF is the player models. I mean, in the video we saw Chara vs. Martinek and they looked the same size and reach. In 09 when players would fight they would each morph to a standardized height and what not. Mike Green and Chara were the same size in fights in 09 and it looks like they will be the same in 2010.
I seriously can't wait to play this game though, boardplay is going to be a welcome addition to dynasty mode now that I can finally win a few dumps that the computer throws into my zone!

This could be the greatest sports game ever made based on that video.
Damn...I'm falling for the hype already!
That video shows lots a good stuff for '10'. Can't wait.

could the fake shot v. the goalie be the next glitch goal that the cheesers abuse in game....wrap around, etc. I am hoping the qa or the fans can beat up online before it goes active and test for everything. The glitch goals now ruin the experience online.
People thought the one handed deke would be exploited online, but it wasn't. I'd imagine the same will be true of the fake shot. It will likely rarely be effective and more just for show against AI goalies but probably more useful on human goalies.

Hopefully the abilities to perform effective fake shot dekes and shooting from the knees are appropriately tied to a player's ratings. In 09 I can stick handle through two defensemen with Ben Eager, that should just about NEVER happen. They are cool things to add, the new animations I mean, provided there not overdone. If I'm seeing them 10 times a game, I'm not sure how well that will play out, but if it's more sporatic, I believe it could add a lot to the game's authenticity.

What was the point of this reply? To start an argument?

NHL '10', I agree...is looking good too. Looks like maybe a great year for sports games.

EASHL is the feature that put it over the top. I have never had more fun playing a video game than I have in that mode.
I can see how you'd dislike the game if you only played offline, because NHL 09's single player experience was dreadful due to all the AI problems.
Get a bunch of human guys playing together, though, and the AI problems disappear.

Online is where the glitches were abundant. If I never played online, I honestly would never know, because I never look for money goals.
Because this series has made the greatest strides of all the EASports series. In fact, of about all sports series, except The Show. From killer new features to improved gameplay. The NHL series has never been so popular.

Great video thanks! Another thing about NHL 09 is that it is still $54.99 used at gamestop here in Minnesota (I don't know if their prices are regional). A 10 month old sports game still at the same price it was when it came out. I think that says a lot about this game. Not many people are selling it or trading it in.

Also from what I've heard, there were a lot of complaints about playing online. I never really ran into any (other than the occasional 'lame' player), but I also didn't play online enough to judge either way.
So long as the AI issues are ironed out I'll be satisfied.

I can attest to the fact that many of EA's other games definitely go the wrong way or simply plateau, although FIFA tends to do pretty well. I hope NHL can continue to improve, as well. So far '10 looks pretty good.

I really haven't followed pro hockey in years. And I haven't bought a hockey video game in I'd say...close to ten years. I've been playing really nothing but football games. But NHL '08' change that.

Since getting '08'...I'm hooked. I can't really explain why, but I just enjoy the hell outta playing NHL. As you said Lubey....pretty impressive for a sports game.

As I said earlier...I'm not really sure what it is about the NHL game that has really grabbed my interest, but it has. If I had to guess, I think it's that the gameplay has a rewarding feel to it. Win or lose...I feel as though I deserved it. Some sports games just don't give off that feeling. To me, anyway.
