After a three-year hiatus, the champ is back to defend its throne. But during the long layoff, we’ve witnessed the returns of Afro Thunder and Little Mac, the rise of Wii Sports boxing, an appearance by Don King and the next-gen debut of Dana White and his UFC crew.

Sporting a new development team and a world of hype, Fight Night Round 4 retains the title and does it every bit as good as its predecessor. Read on to find out how.

good review and i agree good job. Although the presentation should be a negative. No tale of the tape before a fight, and no drama when announcing the decisions. my only complaints really other than increase the power of the jabs and crosses of the boxers that deserve it.

The review is fair, but I disagree about the value of the corner game. I think in online games the strategy involved in saving points for stamina boosts and health in later rounds is huge. I have saved points and stayed away from action in middle rounds, then filled my stamina bar so I can unleash a barrage of punches in the 9th or 10th to land the KO. The game is a lot of fun I give it an 8

Great stuff. Nice read. I can't wait to get off work to play this some more. I've been making all of my friends so that I can put them into my legacy and bash there faces in. It's really entertaining.

Still say button option should at least be available offline.

Only wish I could fight any match in Legacy Mode.

Other than that fantastic game. Worth the hype.

Agree with score. This game is so much more realistic than FN3. The gameface option is huge. Looking forward to filling out the roster with downloaded boxers.

I agree with the 9. I like this game alot. For some reason the training is a lot harder for me this time around for me at least and i like the difficulty. I've already had some amazing fights against the CPU and human players. While the lines may get a little repetitive after awhile, the insight they give is way more enthralling than any other sports game out there. I also agree with the visuals being the best on next gen. Just amazing.

One problem i have is that the game face always makes my eyes too huge for some reason. anyone else have that problem?

No way Show is better looking than FN. I like The Show's authenticity on the graphics front, but there are a lot of anti-aliasing issues, not to mention ghosting etc. I believe I even saw that the developers were planning on tweaking the player models next year.

Good review. I was so surprised by the overall quality of this game. One bad thing, is it has kept UFC Undisputed in its game box and not in my PS3.

You must not play baseball games and The Show 09!

Great boxing game, no doubt, but The Show is Game of the Year, if you know baseball.

They took out button mashing I guess because they say it as cheese, but this game still attracts 80% of the mice flying around in the gaming world.
dude, u will encounter cheese in every sports online. thats just the way it is. albeit, now-a-days developers do the best they can to stop some things but they cant focus all thier time on that.

u want to have a good time online? play people u know and buddy's and on ur friends list. thats what thier there for. thats what i been doing and i been having a ball online.

thats a big statement but i wont argue. i think THE SHOW look just as good. maybe not in the players, but in the overall look of the game.

Wow, I kept playing the demo over and over and after reading this review during the day, I decided enough was enough of Hatton vs Pacquio so I went and bought it. This game is amazing. I really haven't played boxing games much over the years and never really played any Fight Night game other than a few times. The only other boxing games I got into were the original Mike Tyson's Punch-Out on NES and Evander Holyfield Real Deal Boxing on Genesis. I played the first Rocky game on GC and had fun with it for story, but it wasn't anywhere near as fun as this.

As far as graphically vs the Show, it should look better since there are only 2 models to really pay attention to rather than all the baseball players on the field. Either way, these are 2 great sports games that are going to keep me busy all year probably. I think I'll be holding off on Madden and NCAA this year.

I would buy that in a friggen heartbeat.

EA could milk me forever with this game...pack 2 should have Joe Louis, Tito, Camacho, and B Hop.

Have you guys seen the Cabs out there? Some are so sick, no need for DLC.

And yes, this game is amazing...Made me completely forget about UFC.

The real boxers have been OK, I have a decent De La and Holyfield, but most are meh, IMO. The non-boxers have been phenomenal tho...Borat, Obama, Rocky, and Michael Jackson are all spot on. Go figure.

Maybe the DLC should be extra hairstyles and cuts and more sig shorts and gear.
