Of course they can run in a line, its just the fact that they continue to run in lines even when they make turns is what makes the running look TERRIBLE.
holy crap are you even reading these boards? i've been saying the same thing ever since the zig zag was introduced to us. I'm just saying sometimes it does look fine even when they turn.

How many passes hit the ground in this entire video? Like... two? Just about every pass from these two mediocre QBs was either dead on target, or the CPU just made such a poor receiver choice that the ball went straight at the defenders. Ugh.

But that's not the point. The running does look DECENT. However, players are able to defy the laws of physics and turn on a dime. Its stupid, I don't know how anyone at EA didn't even WANT to fix this. They really need to play the PS2 version of NCAA and take notes, this new running is flat out stupid.
the first part of that statement is true the second you completely made up because i've never said it.

I don't mind so much when a back makes one cut and then runs down hiill even if that one cut doesn't look 100% like it should I can live with it. What i think is terrible is when they start doing this zig zag one cut here another cut there a third cut there a fourth cut there crap. That's what i'm talking about the vids we're seeing aren't consistent sometimes we get one or no cuts followed by good down hill running other times we get that awful, twitchy, zig zag, too many cuts whatever you want to call it crap.

Maybe NCAA 11 will be fun.

# 25 adamcsay @ 06/17/09 05:22 AM
what i saw from this video:

- no pass rush.
- robo qb.
- run game is non-existent and very ineffective. the cpu doesn't seem to abandon the run as quickly, but if they lose yards every time they hand the ball off it really doesn't matter.
- adaptive ai my ***.
- the gameplay is way too fast. players move, cut, and change direction on a dime. ridiculously unrealistic and arcady.
- presentation seems to have been skipped over once again.
- crowd noise is still terrible. i feel like i'm in a bball arena when i hear the DEFENSE chant.

a+++++++ product. keep it up ea!

(1) Please turn off the cap lock. This isn't IGN, shouting all the time isn't necessary ;
(2) How many times are you going to cut and paste the exact same post?

Please NG dev team, pick up NCAA 09 for the PS2 and play it, take some freaking notes on PHYSICS and MOMENTUM.
It does look bad. I loved the physics and momentum on the PS2 but it is very clear to me that this NCAA team feels very strongly about certain things and being able to turn on a dime is one of them. They feel that having realistic momentum will hurt the game. Madden has introduced a better momentum system and the NCAA deliberately chose to only implement a part of it because they didn't like it. It's safe to say the majority of OS disagrees.

Another horrible disappointment. I've had my eyes set on July 14th for a while to buy the game... but now I'm honestly considering not buying it. These videos are horrific (though I appreciate you putting them up) and make me more annoyed every time I see them. I could barely watch this whole video. The foot-caused splashed were so overdone - the lineman were walking to the line and every step caused a splash. And also before every play all of the splashes that were supposed to come up at the end of the previous play appeared during the next play. So as everyone was spread out for the next play there were a group of 18 or so splashes all close together at the very beginning of each play. Also I liked the CPU's idea of running outside for losses the first two downs and then completing a long pass on 3rd to get the first. That won't make the game frustrating! But not all is lost as we still have SEASON SHOWDOWN!!!!!

This isn't a public forum. It's a private message board. Besides, free speech never meant there weren't consequences for your actions. Calling your boss an a-hole might not be illegal but it could get you fired. Going against the TOS at OS results in infractions.

i had a problem with that screen pass on 3rd and 10 on their own 7 with less than 2 minutes left in the qtr, its a proper play call in that situation but too many dumb mistakes by the defense. the qb gets hit when he released the ball and its in the air forever with a defender nearby the rb, the defender sits in the same spot and waits for a blocker to come engage him rather than attempting to attack the ball before it gets to the rb.

then there are two linebackers standing around in the middle of the field when its an obvious screen. the rolb impact player goes with the screen motion and starts to follow the play on the other side of the field, but as the qb starts his throwing motion the rolb stops pursuing the play (???) and takes a couple steps in the wrong direction for some reason then after the ball is released he runs in the right direction again but too late to help out on the play.

I think the deal is with the onfield gameplay for NCAA is that Madden is the lead on that. Whatever occurs with new onfield tech in Madden comes to NCAA the FOLLOWING year except with the new running engine, for this NCAA. Madden is usually the guinea pig when it comes to new tech. That's why there is no chain gang, refs, Pro-Tak, etc, in this upcoming iteration of NCAA. U see how they are JUST getting the two man tackling this year, if I'm not mistaken, but when it comes to new features, it's anything goes. NCAA can come up with new features all day separate from Madden. Heck, I'm still waiting for the game planing feature to come to Madden. I like that idea and it makes sense.
Anyway, this is the standard for NCAA and has always been so this is nothing new to see it lacking the onfield gameplay fixes til the year after Madden introduces them.

ai still cant run the ball....
looks just like 09...and why dont they make a wet ball harder to throw?? weather didnt seem to affect the quarterbacks accuracy at all....and no pass rush...
next year dont waste your time with season showdown, or mascot games, please try to bring defense back into the game....

WOW I had been optimistic until I saw this video. This looks exactly like 09. No pass rush. The qb sits in the pocket and delivers perfect throws every time. There is no running game! I am not a football expert but there has got to be something wrong with the blocking logic on running plays out of the gun. They are pointless! This is really depressing, I mean aside from teambuider this is the same game. Well I will say something about the graphics looks better(stadiums and their surroundings).

It looks like my online dynasty will be nothing but shootouts again.

How come the EA developers dont comment on these threads????

They usually read them, but they can't handle the criticism, so they pick and choose their battles. They instead choose to ignore the situation all together. They know if they show their face in these threads, many users (rightfully so) will pick them apart with questions, complaints and explanations and that's too much for their fragile psyche to handle.

Maybe so. Personally, I would rather see them fixing the roster issue and figuring out what to patch and how to patch it than responding to useless threads on a forum.

As long as they read the forums, they know what the issues are. I don't need the warm fuzzy of a response like some pre-adolescents do, I guess.

legend, i whole-heartedly agree with you, however I find it extremely juvenile to be afraid to show your face in these forums. I mean, be a man, you made a mistake, again, for the umpteenth time in the past two years, show your face and admit it, man up. Ignoring the problem and acting like there isn't a problem and not showing your face is cowardly.

I can promise these guys that if they showed their face and say, you know, this criticism is warranted, we screwed up and we will do all in our power to fix it and listen to you guys next year, then all will be solved.

Oh wait, Madden did that this year and LOOK WHAT HAPPENED. Magic formula right there. When will NCAA get it?

# 38 TheTodd84 @ 06/17/09 04:40 PM
they are totally in a catch-22 here though. By the time they get these issues fixed with a gameplay and roster patch, Madden 10 will already be out and most people will have already traded NCAA 10 in by then. Oh well. Looks like NCAA 10 will be going by the wayside this year bc I have this feeling Madden 10 will be fantastic, not perfect, but fantastic just because of the sheer effort being put in.

One question, how are they supposed to know what to patch if they don't come to the forums and find out? How do we even know they want to patch issues? They already said before they've improved the pass rush, but we've seen on evidence of it in the several videos posted. I admire your (and others) positive outlook, but there is no need to catch feelings because there are people who feel otherwise.

Hell, maybe EA gave OS some things to not go in depth about the when they received the beta, so we may never really get a good look at the game until release date.

I am almost positive EA did tell OS to not show some things/talk about some things. Notice how not a single video shows a transition from one quarter to the next? There hasn't been a single screenshot/video from anyone of progressive lighting yet.

I think it's great that other people feel otherwise. I don't have any problems with you whatsoever.
