Backbreaker News Post

IGN has posted their preview of Backbreaker.

Quote:
"Controlling your player as he makes his way down the field is easy. Holding the right trigger sends him into aggressive mode where more powerful moves open up. While holding the trigger you'll not only run faster, but you'll also be able to lower your head into a battering ram and stiff arm guys out of the way. To land a stiff arm properly you'll need to make sure that the ball is being carried in the proper hand. Unlike in Madden where this is handled automatically by the AI, in Backbreaker you'll need to press the A button (X on PS3) to switch hands.

In order to perform more delicate moves on the field you'll need to release the right trigger. That's where you'll find standard jukes, hurdles and spin moves. It's interesting, as you streak down the field, to watch the true physical interactions take place in front of you. For a stiff arm to land, you'll need connect your hand to the defender's upper-body. If it glances off of him, you're going down."

I'm loving the low camera angles. Hopefully we can create NFL teams and Logo's and that they have a EA Locker style thing so the community can upload their best work.

Looks pretty good, not perfect but I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

can we upload images from the internet like in teambuilder?

This technology is looking great... I can't wait to hear more about this game.

sounds good. As usual I'll keep an eye on the game until it releases. I'm happy their not comprimizing to some minor but vocal people that have posted on their forums since the beginning. A lot of people just want madden w/ euphoria. I'm glad they're putting us in the action like the roadie cam from gears, and doing something different.

Keep that camera angle on both offense and defense
It's like a beefed up superstar mode w/ balls.

Some of the writters complaints weren't clear to me either. Like seeing the guy with the ball - was that because he just wanted to know who had it while playing defense, or that taking an angle to cut off the runner would result in you losing sight of him?
That would seem odd since you can focus on the closest defender on offense, so maybe you can focus on a targeted offensive player while playing defense.

I'm glad to hear it's progressing and they're moving forward.

Now, I'd like to hear why all the embargo crap? chase?

Embargo was moved up to tomorrow. I assume IGN got special treatment because they're IGN.

No because it BB was to allowed that then the NFL and EA can sue the company for stilling copyrights. BB can not do that and is not allow to even have anythat kind of stuff on their svr. If that happens then that company will be out of business.

I am not all that happy about it. It looks good graphic wise. But it still seems to blitz like to me. Glowing red ball and the player glowing red. Just doesn't feel real to me. Now if the glowing was not there then I might give it a better reveiw. Even when it comes out. The still need to do more work to it. I might be jumping the gun some. But I will wait until I sse more info on it.

Well I am hoping for plenty of info tomorrow. Been waiting a long time.

Don't get your hopes up. They didn't go into any modes really etc, so there won't be a ton to share.

Really? Then how can EA have Teambuilder? There surely cannot be a double standard.

Its been said that the red ball only happens during replays and since that is the same video/pictures that they showed before when talking about replays, I would assume that is the reason the ball is red.

Sorry I started a new thread because I thought this was just about the trailer.

Not impressed with that hands on at all.

Now why would in the world would you pass up on a game like this just because it doesn't have a franchise mode? I mean, that's just bizarre dude. If it is the future, technology wise, then WHY skip it because of that?

IMO, this game will be somewhat lame because of it being the first one out of the gate but, once they improve it and/or EA gets a hold of it for Madden 2012 or whatever then look out!

FINALLY a physics based football game (Oh wait...no franchise? forget it!)

The statement leads me to believe that it doesn't even have a season mode. It's just play a game mode.

Because I don't have time to play online for the most part. I don't care if its the greatest game in the world, without a franchise, it has no replay value and at most will be a rental. I didn't even rent 2K All Pro and only played the demo a month or 2 after it came out because it didn't have a franchise. I haven't bought madden since it was on the xbox and I think it was a year or 2 before the last version.
