What will really soothe this over is an extra person at the sports desk. There needs to be analyst at the desk that Hammond can go to to give a recap of the game so far. I would recommend getting former pro players who are now analysts to give there impressions of the game so far at Halftime when the highlights are playing. It could go something like this:
Analyst 1 (Rod Woodson for example): Matt Hasselbeck has any throw he wants against this football team. He is taking advantage of every opportunity that the D is giving him. The Broncos need to draw something up to stop this passing game. Maybe come with a little more pressure and force the receivers to beat your CB's and make this QB force his throws a little bit.
Analyst 2 (Marshall Faulk for example): Yea Rod, but also the turnovers by Kyle Orton are killing his football team! This QB has got to stop throwing interceptions and putting his team in bad spots. He needs to really focus on getting his team back in the game without all the costly turnovers.
This is just an idea. The audio is really killing the game so far.

I haven't played the show but UFC's commentary is the best I've ever heard.

But I dissagree. The only awful part was that there was no comentary on the highlights. Everything else ways way way better than anything Madden has ever had.

2k5 presentation was masterpiece. 2k8 was lame and fake. Halftime show with the exact same dialog, an dfield pass? lamest thing I've ever seen.
Yep it's the audio that kills presentation in Madden. With everything that they added this year, the horrendous audio/commentary just sucks the life right out of it all. No fluidity, no flow whatsoever. It just jumps from one thing to the next and there are a bunch of robotic one-liners. Needs to be completely redone.

After thinking about this awhile, I'm actually gonna defend Madden a bit here. My gold standard of where current sports games should be is The Show. This year the game includes postgame highlights, which I enjoy greatly. One thing I just realized is that these highlights don't have any commentary. It features key highlights from the game set to music, but there isn't an announcer describing the plays. What makes it work, I think, is that the replay angles are very good, plus there is music in the background to create a little bit of drama.
So, considering this, I think the Madden highlight package can be salvaged if they choose better replay angles and they include some music (classic NFL Films music would be a good start).
Although this year's Madden highlights don't appear to approach 2K5 in terms of total presentation, EA can still salvage this. Let's hope there's still time to improve it.

They don't have to have commentary but the highlights just look like regular instant replays with a stat beneath them.

I agree with the masses. That was very weak. Honestly, if they are planning to do a halftime and end-of-game show, they should have come correct. Everyone knows it will be compared to what was done in 2K5, so to come out with that is embarrassing. I would rather they have NOT put this in the game, did it the right way (ala 2K5) and released it next year.

wow the voice on that is horrible! Sounds so robotic... They should start recording full sentences including team names and scores, rather than doing everything separately because at the moment that sounds so unnatural! I know it'd take longer recording more combinations, but the difference in quality would be massive!
Apart from that the highlights looks cool, even if they seem a bit random (eg. 1 yard rush by Hasselbeck). It's a step in the right direction but the voice acting undermines it in my opinion.

Leaves A LOT to be desired. Kind of a complete waste of space IMO.

Just two days ago I played All pro and heard this (something very similar anyway) at halftime:
"And LOOK at the difference in time of possession! The Sunspots should be WAY ahead on the scoreboard but somehow theyve let their opponents hang with em" Parts of it are nearly word for word.
Yeah, because alot of that isnt the exact same dialog Berman had on 2k5...

Madden 10 has the better angles for halftime, but 2K5 has the superior audio work. I hate to say it, but the audio work seems to trump everything else here for me. I'd give up the halftime highlight angles in Madden 10 for the halftime audio of 2K5.
I guess it just says that a halftime show isn't quite right unless the audio is on point.

Considering I am pressed for time when I play and I like to get a game in in 45 mins I doubt I will be viewing much of the halftime show anyway.. Im glad they are trying to improve it but its not that important to me...
