Virtua Tennis 2009 Hands-on (Gamespot)

Gamespot has posted their hands-on preview of Virtua Tennis 2009.

	"The tennis landscape has certainly changed a lot since then. 2K Sports updated its Top Spin franchise with Top Spin 3 last year, and EA Sports is about to enter the market with Grand Slam Tennis. Clearly, the onus is on Virtua Tennis to up its game, and Sega has dusted off its tennis whites to return with Virtua Tennis 2009, the first of what we assume will be an annual update."

Oh, in the UK, it's out. Next week, US. It's as good as copped.

Yeah I went back and played VT 3 over the weekend for the first time in forever and man does it seem arcadey compared to Top Spin 3, which was the last tennis game I played.

I wish a new Top Spin was coming out to compete with these two arcade games, 'cause I really prefer the sim approach to tennis vs. the "pong" approach that the VT series has.

I've been a VT fan since the first 2 games on the Dreamcast and I also have VT3 for my PS3 but I have to admit, after getting into the Top Spin 3 demo, I was hoping for more of a realistic "re-imagining" for VT 2009. The thing I didn't like about the TS3 demo was the god-awful footsliding. I dunno if that's in the final product but I assume it is because 2KSports have yet to figure that out on NBA2K.
