Tiger Woods 10 News Post

When EA announced that Tiger Woods 10 (TW10) would be shipping in early June, golf fans everywhere rejoiced. And fans of the Nintendo Wii are even more excited since this year's game marks the debut of the Wii MotionPlus peripheral.

The looming launch of the MotionPlus peripheral has created a lot of buzz for the latest Tiger Woods game. So could TW10 finally be the simulation sports Wii title that dazzles the "hardcore" sports crowd? We will have an answer to that question in a couple weeks. In the meantime, let's take a look at some of the hype surrounding the game.

Why is this preview titled "XBox 360" and not "Wii"?

I have played an early beta of TW10 for the Wii at Tiger Woods Community Day and I can tell you that the swing with the Wii Motion Plus is outstanding. Best Golf swing interface I have ever played with. Too bad the Wii's graphics capabilities are so wek compared to the PS3/360, but it does a serviceable job....

I'll echo Divot's question... is this a Wii or and XBox 360 preview? I

I don't think anyone could draw any conclusions about the Wii Motion Plus' integration into Tiger Woods 10 until they've actually laid hands on it. If one is having trouble grooving a swing, I'm sure they could drop down a difficulty level or two until they find something comfortable.

I'll retract my opening comment, as I see the title has now been corrected. However, I think it's a bit misleading to use XBox 360 screen shots in a Wii preview.

Agreed...there is a sizable difference between a Wii screen and a 360/PS3 screen....

Are there screens in the article I'm not seeing? Or do you mean in the Image section?

Oh all right. Well sorry if there was any misdirection at work.

If you're too uncoordinated to swing the wii remote the rest of us shouldn't have put up with a dumbed down version of golf to suit toddlers and nerd previewers. The swing mechanic should be realisic. If it is then I'm getting this game for the Wii.
I've got to really question what exactly I said in my preview that deserved a personal attack?

I'm extremely excited about the game, and simply pointed out a concern I have with Wii motion plus- I have not yet played the game, so this concern may not even be valid once I get my hands on the final build.

Please keep the negativity off the board, especially the unwarranted personal attacks.

I don't want an arcade game either-I was just saying that I was a bit concerned if Wii Motion plus is as accurate as people are claiming. Like I said in the article- I don't want to have to hit the range just to shoot par in the game.

The whole reason I play Tiger is because it gives me an opportunity to compete with the Pros on real life courses- what fun would the game be if it completely mimicked anyone's real life golf game? You're telling me that you wouldn't get a bit frustrated with the game if you were consistently shanking drives or pulling putts because your golfer's attributes have not been completely leveled up?

Like another poster said- I'm sure there will be different difficulties that prevent motion plus from getting the point of frustration, but it is a valid concern none the less.

P.S. I am a nice guy! :-) PM over your Wii friend code if you want to hit the virtual links.

I can state emphatically that there are scores of Wii users asking for just that. This is why they have 3-4 difficulty levels for online and offline play. EA has been loudly criticized (justifiably so by the hardcore/simulation users) for not offering more realism for those seeking a more realistic gameplay experience. In my short time with TW10 Wii, they have delivered on this with the WiiMote Plus and a 1:1 swing. I am one of those who relishes gameplay that forces me to concentrate and focus on my swing to achieve the desired results. I don't see the harm in offering gameplay that appeases the largest target audience possible and gameplay that is tunable to the users desired difficulty.

If I want a golf game that realistic I'll head out to the course for real and at least get some sun ;-)

To each their own! Regardless of your feelings on that issue there is some common ground- this years Tiger on Wii could be outstanding.

Divot, I don't imagine you've ever heard this bromide before! It's code for "End of Discussion" in my experience...

Bumble14, I'm one of those of whom Divot speaks. I want a more faithful simulation. I have no problem with the game defaulting to a difficulty level that allows people who don't know how to swing a golf club to go out and shoot par. What I don't understand is the alarm registered by those who fit that demographic, when they learn that the game can be made to play a more difficult simulation style game. Sim-heads have to go into the menus to configure the game to play that way.

The bottom line is this - I want a golf game that makes me feel like I've accomplished something to break par.

^^^ Wow! Impressive. I like the look of that list.

Please, Please, PLEASE let this game be worth getting Based on this series' past versions, I feel like I'm really setting myself up for a huge letdown.

This game is getting some great buzz and I'd love to use the Wii motion plus but, I just can't bring myself to spend $60 on a game with graphics that look ten years old. I haven't played my Wii in almost a year because I can't stand the graphics (My wife plays it or I would have traded it in a long time ago). There are $5 PSN games that look better then every Wii game. The other thing I can't stand is the pitiful online offerings from the Wii. The most unfriendly friends list ever created and no voice chat. Yes, TW will have the Live Tournaments thing but, that isn't enough for me. IMO, Nintendo dropped the ball by not giving the thing more graphical power and they where just stupid to not incorporate an online community similar to XBL and PSN.

I'll probably give it a rent but, my money will go towards the PS3 version for my purchase. I need my graphics and complete online features. Maybe one day MS and Sony will be smart and develop a Wiimote type interface for there consoles.
