do you get paid?

With wording of "sports gaming professionals" at the top, I have to admit that wondered if this was indeed a paying position or on a volunteer/intern basis.

There is no pay for writing for Operation Sports, but you do get free games (the one's you review) and occasionally you might to get to go on preview trips.

It is currently volunteer, however there are definitely certain perks. E.g. free games, potential opportunities to represent OS at media/press events etc. As OS grows we plan to one day compensate all of our staff writers, however at this point in time it simply is not possible.

What he said...

Well, we can never be accused of not being on the same page

Sounds good...I would have done it for free and no perks, lol. What can I say, I love sports games!

I sent in an application. I love OS, so I'd be happy to help if I qualify.

It would be a neat job that I could never do.

Are you looking for someone with a lot of experience and of a certain age?

# 11 RaychelSnr @ 05/05/09 12:00 AM
Since we only have three openings, we will definitely probably be taking the very best writers. With that said, experience and age are just typically numbers. It's the passion you bring and what you can do that we are concerned about. Some guys have submitted resumes and such in the past that would probably get them hired at a paying writing position, but that means nothing if you don't bring passion and excitement to the table. If you don't have both of those, it's hard to get up about writing for us for free games and a trip or two.

With that said, if you are passionate and excited about sports gaming, we want to talk because I consider this one of the coolest gigs around.

I will send in an app also. I work at Gamestop part time and I try to get my boss to give me the games early just so I could review them for the fans on this forum. If it works out, I'm definitely in.

Cool! May have to look into this! Gotta love how the internet makes gigs like this possible.

Same here...interested and will apply. Funny about you working at Gamestop, I am trying to get a part time gig with them in this area.

I want to send an app in, but I don't have any experience in high school newpapers ,and the like, to put on my resume.

But, I do write poetry, short storiesm and songs. Is that enough?

I just seen this now and I am kicking myself for not noticing it sooner!

I wrote a bunch of articles for my hometown paper and was also the sports editor for my college paper. I sent in a an application (late) anyways.

Looks like a great deal and a good chance to give something back to OS.

EDIT: Well, other than 25 dollars.

For anyone that missed the deadline or skipped it because they weren't sure, strongly consider it next time.

It's a pleasure working with Chris. All he asks for is passion and meeting your deadlines. It's not much if you have the time to commit to it. The staff is great and you get to have your voice heard in the community.

If I had the time I wanted to give to OS, I would have never opted to leave the staff. Of course, if you ask Chase, he probably wanted me gone anyway.
