Didn't like what I saw out of the Jet-Sweep Option...

Same analog stick method.

After watching it through a second time, I don't think that the turn on the dime is AS bad as last year. It's still there, just not to Nth degree like 09.

That is the one thing that hit me as well. The game play/animations are still WAAAAAY too twitchy.

He was sprinting with a FS on the punt return and snaked/ziggzagged the whole way down.

Whenever the CPU was running with the ball the ball carrier was snaking/ziggzagging the whole time. This shouldn't be possible in a full sprint.

Lighting looks AMAZING! I'm stoked

Admittedly the gameplay looks a lot better. dline/oline interaction looks great. Tebow made a horribly underthrown pass, I'd assume on default sliders, which really bodes well for how realistic the passing game will be.

Im not to fond of the turning on a dime either but I think that the game LOOKS the way a college football atmosphere should, player models look realistic (they actually look like athletic people) just look at demps and tebow in their stances. As i've discovered in the past tho, these videos EA puts out are often misleading. This is coming from someone that still plays 09 so it's not like I hated the game I just think some things needed to be fixed and I hope they were.
OL/DL interaction BIG step up!

He gets +2 at one point for stopping an option.

Now, I'm not as familiar with Florida's IRL playbook as I am with some other teams, but I'm trying to figure it out.

There's Jet motion from the left slot receiver and Tebow's apparantly meshing with this guy on an option.

The tackles both block the defensive ends, so Tebow's not reading either of those guys.
The LG and C double on the DT on the left (and it looks pretty cool - they get some movement on him).

The RG pulls and wraps around the LT and leaves the DT unblocked and the TE and RB go block at the second level (which gets in the backfield insanely fast).

So presumably Tebow's optioning the DT. Is this midline?
If so, Tebow would be looking to run outside of the guy he's meshing with, not to the opposite side (where the LG is pulling to), as he looks like he's trying to.

Some sort of middle zone-read?
Just a continuation of the dumb, unrealistic blocking schemes from the last few years?

Someone help me out here.

Finally someone who speaks real football!
I'm not sure if it's midline or a zone read because i've never seen midline done with a motioning WR but I would assume that it's a zone read because the blocking leaves one tackle go free therefore leaving tebow the option to take it if the DT focuses more on the WR...or just EAs bad knowledge of actual football plays.

Yeah, it's hard to do midline from the Shotgun in the first place

(I think Tony Demeo from Charleston does it, however ----- everyone should look his offense up on youtube, it's amazing)

and even tougher with a guy having to slow down to take that angle into the line of scrimmage.

It looks like a zone read but the traditional ZR has the QB read the BACKSIDE defensive end, the side where there would someone pulling FROM

So:

S S

CB LB LB LB CB
DE T T DE
X------------LT-LG-C-RG-RT---------------Z
------Y----------------H--------------------
--------------------Q-RB--------------------

This is the set we're looking at, right?

A regular zone read with Y as the potential ball carrier would have the LT pull to the right, leaving the defensive end over the LT unblocked. If he follows Y across the formation, the QB would pull the ball and take off to the left. If that defensive end stayed at home, the QB would give the ball and they would have numbers blocking on the right side.

That's ONE way to do it, and I'm sure there are other, better ways. The disadvantage of this way is that with the slot being the guy the QB meshes with, the OLB on that side is now unblocked too, and not because he's being optioned off of. So, there is probably a better way.

But what we're looking at is not the ZR and I'd honestly like to know what it is. I'm not super-knowledgable about Florida's playbook, so this could well be a well-executed play that's actually in their playbook.

I only use floridas playbook and ik that for 09 there was a play like what you mentioned but only 1. That formation is incorrect, there is a TE outside of the LT's left shoulder playing a wingback postion.
Maybe someone ws suppose to pull but responded to an incoming blitz? ( i dont remember if there even was one im just thinking out loud)

Bingo! When will we get realistic on the field play? They move like marbles sliding all over the field. The cuts are to fast without planting. Yuk!

Graphics look improved but other than that it seems to play the same way. Hopefully we can slow it down a bit.

I am guessing it just isn't possible at this point to have the shadows move. My guess is that if the sky does change and get darker then the field will just eventually get lit by the stadium lights, reducing the shadows. My guess is that if they had time to sneak back in time progression they didn't get to fix shadows and the way the stadiums react to that just yet. Just speculation though. Still I say this because in that video I totally see it getting darker in the sky!

let's keep in mind that russ said team builder is only 60-70% done and that was 2 days ago so maybe gameplay is still being looked at.

I liked the video but the game seems a tad too fast yes

Looks about the same to me. And great to see the brought jump the snap back. Just looks way too fast and arcade for me. I wonder if they will have a speed slider this year?

# 78 GigemAGGIES13 @ 04/28/09 02:37 PM
I'm almost positive that will be the final gameplay build.

It looks like the animations are never going to change, but alas, they are merely animations. What actually happens on the field is dictated by the AI, which (they insinuate) got a major update this year.

Any one notice in the Season Showdown: The End Game video at the 14 second mark on the play call screen there is a chew clock option. Anyone know what this is about? Accelerated clock maybe?

I agree. It still looks and plays like 2009. It doesn't really look like they changed much from a gameplay point of view.
