NCAA Football 10 News Post

EA Sports just posted another NCAA Football 10 blog. This one covers gameplay camera presentation.

Quote:
"This year we were able to convert our gameplay cameras to a new system that can be tuned by the designers on the team while playing the game. The benefit to this is we now have the ability to prototype new camera angles quickly and see how we can make your view of the game even better and more dynamic.

One aspect of the new tech is the camera’s ability to frame all of your receiver options on-screen as much as possible. What we do is have the camera behave like a turret on your head and as you and the receivers move on the field the camera will focus at a calculated point on the field (called a proxy target) that will give you the best vantage point. We are able to add weights on the calculation that can force the camera to pay more attention to the QB’s location, the receivers, or even the player going out for the screen pass. In addition, we can lock this point to be a set distance from the line of scrimmage so that its location keeps a steady position instead of flying up, down, and all over the field as your receivers move in real time."

It is March now and they are inviting community leaders out to get feedback on the game. How far from the final product do you really think they are?
yes but these pics they are giving us could be from the beta game.you can tell that its from the beta game , because if this was the real pics it wouldn have WIP imprinted on the screenies.

Those are screen plays the o-line lets the d-line through!

Geez...when I saw this thread, my heart almost jumped and a tear almost appeared. I thought EA finally got it with the cameras. Then i read the article.

EA, if you continue to think that multiple camera angles that ARE PLAYABLE is what you DON'T need to implement then this silly stuff said here, then the only word you need to realize when you think of your game is....

FAIL.

To year after year have only one playable camera angle is a joke, and the product produced will continue to be a joke. Come on EA, you are better than this.

OMT;

Are you able to comment when those screens were taken? Are they new screens or off from an older build?

Thank you for any info you can supply.

That's just unbelieveable

Why the heck is UF wearing black shoes and black socks.?

I almost didn't even recognize it was UF because of this...I sure as hell hope that is fixed.

Oh Man, that is just unacceptable. Every other sports game on the market has multiple angles for actual gameplay. This has been brought up every single year, and every year you neglect the biggest aspect of the game besides actual gameplay.

What good is gameplay if the view we are watching it in...is horrid. Shame on you EA.

I'm glad you referenced this. Obviously, what we're seeing is not the final version. But I think for the most part, it's not far off. When screens debuted this time last year (maybe a little later) minus referrees, there were always the group of people who claimed "It's a WIP. There's still time." In actuallity, there's isn't that much time.

If so, a lot has changed since February.

I don't see any reason to think so... if we had multiple camera angles, then that would be a larger and more significant announcement for a blog than this one.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed because I hope we do get multiple angles.

Hmmmm... very perceptive, Details. I didn't even consider that part. Hope it's a veiled reference to camera angles, but you know there have been some times when we got hints that looked obvious and then turned out to be something else... fingers crossed.

That just means they have some pretty bad D-lineman! They are supposed to read screen and break off of the rush to stop it. Not let all the blockers get in front and create an actual convoy to the endzone.

Why no just give us multiple camera angles to choose from?

I doubt thats the secret feature...why hide something thats simple?

COME ON EA!

This means the game has likely passed through QA and final build by early May. I'm assuming that means actual development was finished in April since you have to go to codelock at some point.

I think we are 5-6 weeks out right now. Though, our weeks are pretty long right now.

OMT - Please tell me all teams are wearing black shoes in this "work in progress". If you have Florida wearing black shoes when the games ships, that will be unforgiveable.

Oh, and make sure you get Florida's all-whites in the game. They don't wear orange pants anymore.

Thanks!

Looking pretty good otherwise.
