Now that the game is actually in the hands of some players and news is starting to surface about the game, I'm starting to doubt if this game is really worth the money.

a.) In the HIAC match, you always start on top of the Cell, and after throwing someone off the Cell, there's no way to get back up there. Stupid.

b.) In the Ladder Match, the ladder starts in the ring and there's no way to leave the ring. The videos of the ladder match I've watched seem to have the match lasting about two minutes.

c.) In the Royal Rumble, you can't use any grapples. WTF?

d.) Battle Royal matches are basically mini-Royal Rumbles, no pinfall/submission rules like the SVR series.

e.) You can't great your own finishing combos in CAL, and the only finishing combos selectable are ones that the legends and SVR09 guys already have. I don't understand why they have all the parts to make all these legends, yet no finisher for them?

f.) The RRR mode is lame. I thought you'd have the option to Relive, Recreate, AND Redefine each match, however, you only do one of those for each match. It comes to about eighteen total matches and it's complete.

This seems like a really incomplete game. I like the basic controls, and I love the nostaligic feel, but it seems like either THQ rushed this just to get it out there, or they're banking on it selling because of WWE so they half-assed it so they have room to improve in future versions.

Regardless, I dunno if I'm going to buy it or not. Basically all the gimmick matches are useless. The RRR mode sounds like it can be completed in a few hours. It sounds like it could be a fun multi-player game, but I have no one who'd be interested in playing it with me, so I just don't know if it'll be worth the $60. I may just wait for a price drop, I dunno. I've done a complete 180 on this game.

Even though this game looks a bit shallow at least it has some good sliders and such. Dunno if you all seen the video of it but here it is:

I haven't played this game or any wrestling game lately, but I know the best for a fact was Day of Reckoning 2 on GC. I still play it now. They need to bring that back.

after reading what people are saying about it i may wait a little bit untill i can get it for cheaper, I don`t know if i want to pay 60 for it although i will get it eventually

But wasn't that the original design intent? A more old school arcadey feel like Wrestlefest and other older games, so faster matches and a smaller moveset. They've stressed that all along, so this isn't going to be for everyone as they're obviously going for a more casual gamer as opposed to the hardcore wrestling game fan going by what they've said with focus testing in the past.

I enjoy it for what it is though, and the nostalgia factor's big enough for me to probably pick it up next week. The gameplay sliders may be enough for me if I need to increase difficulty, but I'm not really looking for that, just a fun brawler to play with friends. If we wanted something more substantial, we'd just go back to No Mercy or Fire Pro or something.

Yeah, I enjoyed the demo simply because of nostalgia but after playing it a few times and hearing more and more about the options and gameplay, this game is probably a rental.

This game looks HOT!

I can't believe how many flaws this game has. From questionable roster, terrible movesets for CAL's, no freedom on HIAC and ladder matches, no career mode or replay depth to the boring Rumble.

THQ must have developed this game in 3 months. If it wasn't a "legends" game it would probably score a 2\10. If SvR came out like this they would have to recall it. What a blatent cash grab. I'm not wasting even a rental on this now.
Ok then, move on. Basing your review off an early demo and youtube videos..just wow. But there's no real need to post any longer about how "bad" the game will be since you won't be renting or playing it.

Some people only focus on negatives(or there opinion on what is negative). The game looks better than a lot of other games I see out there. It seems to have that fun factor and a little strategy that SF4 has. Give me this over trying to satisfy the unsatisfiable especially for a first time attempt. LOL. Stop over reacting. It is a game after all.

I won't have time to play this for a little bit, but I'm eagerly anticipating your reviews when this comes out. I really want to see what you guys think.

This game has the simplicity and fun that has been lacking in wrestling games for a long time. This is hardly a rehashed Smackdown game, which makes me happy. I got that feeling just from playing the demo for 2 minutes.

# 132 TheYankeeKiller @ 03/20/09 08:41 PM
Haha at those who are against negative opinions.

You see, where I'm from, the United States of America, people are free to express their opinions. If someone doesn't like an aspect of this game, then he or she should be allowed to make a post about it. I know when I read game reviews (or any review), I expect to see the positives and the negatives. What is the point of an opinion, if someone only gives the 'positive' side all the time? It is a breath of fresh air to see those who are willing to form an opinion with their minds, instead of their hearts.

I'm going to play some WrestleFest now.

Being in the United States has nothing to do with posting only negative opinions.

There is nothing wrong with having a negative opinion, but why pick only the negative things to talk about? No game is perfect, but to come to a message board and consistently repeat how much you hate a game that you do not like makes no sense.

Most people are wise enough to see that you are only trying to persuade others to think as you think. It actually is a little sickening to see an individual force such views on this community(in the United States of course).
A few years ago this would not be happening, but since the influx of users here from other sites it has been getting like some other sites(gamefaqs).

Everyone has there opinions and comments, but that does not make what you think or say a reasonably sound judgment all the time. Sometimes a person is just plain old wrong buddy.

Anyway I can not wait to try this game with the SF4 arcade sticks.

I have changed my mind and i`m probably going to pick this up on Tuesday, i have played the demo some more and i actually enjoy the new controls, I love that they have the blue steel cage and all Wrestlemania 1-15 arenas. Plus the roster is pretty good even if they are missing a few.

# 135 lasthour @ 03/21/09 12:07 PM
I agree, I hope the game is well balanced. That would be the icing on the cake.

# 136 Full_Collapse @ 03/21/09 08:02 PM
I'm sure this won't have much depth, but this seems to have more replayability than most fighting games, which at its core is what this is - it's hardly a strategic wrestling game in the vein of No Mercy. It's cheesy but it tugs at my heart strings because of nostalgia.

More nostalgia I'd assume, like playing the old Wrestlefest games. By your reasoning, MAME cabinets shouldn't bother with arcade sticks either. Most older arcade games only use 1 or 2 buttons!
