NCAA Basketball 09: March Madness Edition News Post

Gamespot has posted their exclusive first look at NCAA Basketball 09: March Madness Edition. It looks like an Xbox 360 exclusive.

Quote:
"EA Sports is diving into the DLC ocean with verve these days. Just a few weeks ago, the publisher announced the Ultimate Team Mode, a downloadable expansion to last year's FIFA 09, and now they're getting set to release NCAA Basketball 09: March Madness Edition, a download-only, standalone game based around the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Exclusively for the Xbox 360 and available for download on March 11, the game will let you play out the tourney using this year's tournament teams, and will include updated rosters and seedings.

The publisher has been experimenting with March Madness-themed DLC in its NCAA Basketball series for a couple years now. In both 2007 and 2008, EA released Selection Sunday Bracket Packs which included updated ratings and seedings and a full virtual bracket. According to EA reps, those who have previously purchased the Xbox 360 version of NCAA Basketball 09 will still be able to download updated ratings and the authentic 2009 tournament bracket for free-- this year's Selection Sunday roster update will be available on March 18."

So are saying the gameplay is pretty much just like the disc version?

I avoided the retail game (played the demo for 10 minutes and deleted it) played Live 09 and 2k9 and it didn't hold me. I'm not a franchise or career player so tourney play is great for me. I purchased this download and I really am enjoying it... once i got the 2K vibe off of my mind. At first it felt sluggish and unresponsive but after more time... I'm having FUN and starting to get the control scheme.

$15 well worth it IMO

Just got it...

I'm sure I'll have fun over the next couple weeks.

Hopefully SDSU gets a bid today though....

For the RETAIL disc based version of the game, If you want the brackets with the correct pairings and the updated un-named rosters it seems that you have to have Xbox Live Gold.

So here's how to get the updated pairings. I upgraded to Gold, then I went to my NCAA --> then to EA Sports Extras --> then to Xbox Live Marketplace and scrolled down to NCAA Basketball 09 Bracket Pack (604.00KB by the way), and downloaded it. Then I had the correct pairings and updated rosters (no names mind you). I tried to do this with Silver and it wouldn't allow me.

Stupid question, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to load the new rosters. I have custom rosters that load when the game starts. I hit reset rosters, and it goes back to the old ratings. I find it HARD to believe that they wouldn't change a single UNC or UConn player's ratings.

Yea, I know what you mean. I thought they were going to update the rosters and ratings. The Minnesota Golden Gophers seemed like they were the same too after I did a reset rosters. Hmmm. I will try to check it out more later, but I don't have access to my 360 right now.

Yeah, I really don't think Larry Drew will still be lower rated than Marc Campbell.
