ESPN has posted an article entitled, MLB 09 The Show: Five Things You Need to Know, claiming it's the best baseball game ever.

Quote:
"MLB 09: The Show is the best baseball game I've ever played, period. And I've played them all. As a kid, I used to stack tokens on the RBI Baseball machine to steal bases non-stop as Vince Coleman. I actually went in and edited all the teams and players in Baseball Stars so I could play with the most current lineups. And I used to drive my friends crazy with Sports Talk Baseball because I'd abuse them with the Ruthian Mike Stanton, that's right, Mike Stanton, because the Braves pitcher batted 3-6 back in 1991, so the game made him an unstoppable .500 hitter."

I think we all need to calm down a little bit. This is not a review, it sounds like an early impression. Sony probably flew him out, wined & dined him, brought him into HQ and wowed him with new features. He played a few games, liked what he saw and all of a sudden it's the best thing since sliced bread. This doesn't sound familiar to anyone?

Prime example was Head Coach 09. Compliments to the dev team were flowing before the game was even released after early one impression was positive. After the game was released it was a different story, although I thought overall the game was well done for a first release.

I hope this dude is right though, because MVP 2005 (PC modded version) needs to retire. Although it's going to cost me $400 to buy the Show & a PS3 so I am going to read reviews carefully and wait it out a few weeks to see how it holds up to scrutiny from hard-core players.

If I could loan you my PS3, I would.

If you're a hardcore sim fan, I see no reason why you wouldn't absolutely go nuts for this game, especially considering the level it's at now. I thought MLB 06 was pretty damn good, better than MVP, bugs notwithstanding. MLB 09 on PS3 is 50x the game MLB 06 on PS2 was.

That was a great article. The game sounds like it's going to live up to the hype. Can't wait!
