NASCAR 19 News Post

As comfirmed by Jon Robinson, over at ESPN Video Games.

Quote:
"Sources inside EA Sports have confirmed that NASCAR Kart Racing for the Wii is the only NASCAR video game they will be releasing calendar year 2009.

That means no NASCAR 10 for the 360 or PlayStation 3.

And with EA's NASCAR license expiring after this year, it looks like the state of NASCAR gaming could be in for a major change.

When asked for an official quote, an EA Sports spokesperson confirmed the rumors, but would only go on record to say: "We are continuing our conversations with NASCAR, but nothing has been announced regarding the license or future projects and we don't have any further announcements at this time."

That's a shame. They had a great game to build on in 09.

Oh well. Maybe 2K/VC can take a stab at in 2010.

Maybe IRacing can get a license and release a good sim. They are the guys that made all the good Nascar sims by Papyrus. IRacing is good but I hate all the money you have to spend to race online.

While there are improvements I would like to see in NASCAR 10 I cannot say I am totally disappointed with this news. NASCAR 09 is still a good game. With no 10 in sight people will continue to play 09 so this will actually extend the life of the existing game. It means I can keep enjoying it and don't have to worry about dropping more money this year just to stay a part of the communicty. Maybe this will start a trend and all sports titles will go to a two year dev cycle.

I was looking forward to seeing what they could improve on in 10.

I thought 9 was a solid game that had potential of next year (10) being a great console racer.

well this is good news in that maybe a new company can try to make a nascar game and hopefully do it better than EA. it sucks a new nascar game wont be out but atleast they offer some updated rosters/drivers.

Great decision, title needs to get to a annual release around February instead of mid-summer (not to mention correct date on title). EA just needs to release a driver / paint scheme DLC soon.

good news but only if another company put out a better version....

Guess Ill buy 09 for the time being....havent played since "team control" so how is 09's realism? Do cars flip over then land on all fours and continue to race? How is the dynasty mode?(wateva its called) can I run a full race in that mode aswhile?

You my friend took the words out of my mouth. I miss the Papy days and although i love Iracing it does get very expensive. Maybe they could do a complete package or something yah know....tracks and car packs. who knows. Either way competition is good if Nascar allows it.

It would not be hard for EA to release current car / driver updates as DLC. I hope this happens. Maybe get a few more courses in there as well.

I forget where I seen the article but Dale Jr. is pushing Nascar real hard to license up with IRacing. If you watch a race you'll see IRacing decals in Earnhardt Jr.'s car. So with his influence and gaming experience I would be surprised if a deal wasn't made.

I think I'll buy a used copy of NASCAR 09. I rented it and it seemed pretty good.

This is awsome news!!! Maybe someone else will take over the NASCAR liicensing and we can get a more realistic NASCAR racing games. NASCAR Racing 2003 Season by Papyrus & Sierra was the last tru to life NASCAR game ever made.

I'm with you, I dont really want to be limited to what I can/can't race due to having to buy individual tracks and series models.. especially with the horrible job market we're dealing with now

I had no idea I was so rich. Thanks for letting me know.

Well whoever ends up with the NASCAR license i hope its a total sim racing game.

I am so glad to hear this news. I think in this economy EA was overdoing it and stretching themselves too thin over every freaking sport. Let somebody else handle the racing games. I thought 09 was fun and will keep playing it untill the time being.

1. I hope no one gets an exclusive license. I hope that 3-4 different companies come out with their own versions. I'd love to see 2K/VC get a shot.

2. Whoever makes it would be wise to make it accessible to even the casual fans, but allow for a fully-sim option. I love these games, but I'm terrible at them. I'd never be able to play a full sim.

I am just afraid that if someone takes over this it wont be until there 2nd or 3rd year to make a decent game.

Maybe not, if one or a few of the established SIM racing designers get a hold of it, it could be good right off the bat. Sim Bin, the Arca remax guys, iRacing....ect. Actually as expensive as it would be probably, iRacing would probably do the series proud. Dave Kaemer(not sure if i spelled that right) the lead guy at iRacing and former Papy lead who made all the great Nascar sims for them is probably the man for the job.
