NBA Live 10 News Post

The NBA Live 10 lead producer promises big changes are in store for the classic hoops franchise.

Quote:
"A large amount of the responsibility for rebuilding that foundation has fallen on new lead gameplay designer Mike Wang, who came over from 2K Sports after working on the NBA 2K franchise from 2005-2007. Wang is a devoted basketball enthusiast and he's excited to bring his years of expertise to the NBA Live team and take on the challenge of restoring the franchise to its former glory.

"I continually struggle with wanting to replicate a lot of the mechanics of 2K here, and what I've found out was that I made a lot of mistakes over at 2K and I'm glad that I made them there because it gave me a chance to see what was right and what was wrong and what resonated with fans and what didn't," Wang said. "It's not really copying 2K or that I want to copy that style of gameplay, but there are certain things that 2K does right from a basketball perspective that Live still struggles with. So, for me, it's a matter of looking at the NBA game and watching real live footage and playing our game to see what's missing and fix it. We're already well on our way and the game is playing very well, and it's going to be great by the time we're finished with it."

Let's see if they can improve the control of the players (no skating, but responsive to subtle control movements), maybe make the passes crisper, and change some of the other little things... it might be playable, which will be quite novel for them.

On a personal note, I absolutely hate how they list the player names on the crawl. At least add something else so one player's name isn't up there for scoreless stretches.
Live 09 is extremely playable and what sliding. They have perfect footplanting and really move nicely.

You must be talking about ps2 or something.

Maybe he's talking about 2k9.

I also think it's extremely playable and the only problems I have with Live are rebounding and blocking, which seems like they have fixed.

In 2K the net physics are great but the rim feels really akward. You know the feeling when youre playing on a real court and the rim just sounds ugly when you miss^^ Hard to explain.
Tight rims, they are tighten more in the nba then college.

NBA Live 10 might have a chance to make a run for their money this year, finally. Because I feel that 2k has taken a huge step backward in 2k9. 2k8 was such a better game game-play wise, but so much behind 2k9 in graphics. If only they could gel the 2 together, it would be tough for EA to top 2k for another year. But I guess we'll see in another couple months.

My plea is that they don't over do it. I felt Live 09 was a solid game. Not necessarily a better game but, a more fun game than 2k9. The spacing, drive and kick, and pick and roll game are pretty top notch. Also, it is much easier to replicate real life stats (with proper slider adjustments) than it is in 2k. 2k never figured out how to correctly credit an assist.

And the fact that you can pretty much get a wide open jump shot anytime you want. That's what bothered me the most about Live '09, especially multiplayer wise.

Been a NBA Live nut over the years (The good and bad years lol) and I'm excited to see how Live10 will come out being that they are heading in a "new direction". I'm sure many of us would live to see Tony Parker and company take off the ice skates and run for once. (Pun intended) LOL.
I just want a worth while game and an occasional roster patch for those who don't have the option to get them. Rock on!

CutthroatGold = Hardcore NBA Live Player!

To Me Live 09 Was A GOOD Game Last Year...The Main Improvements Needed To Me Are-Rebounding,Stealing The Ball,Signature Shots(Everybody Does Not Shoot A Rainbow Jumpshot),And To Me The BIGGEST Upgrade Needed Is To The Low Post Animations,Low Post Gameplay Seems Way Toooo Grounded(I Know Big Men Arent As Athletic As The Smaller Athletes)...But They All Play Like Ilgauskus...LOL...

My only concern is that I do not want NBA Live to be too much like NBA2k.

I want NBA Live to be distinct, different, and the best product that it is capable of being.

What I DO NOT want to see is NBA2kLive.

I like the direction I see EA trying to take the series. I like the control scheme, and the cocnepts they are trying to lay out.

What matters now is execution. They are getting close.

Right now, NBA Live is the equivalent of a 30 win NBA team that has made the jump to .500, got themselves back into the playoffs, and took a couple of games from the #1 seed.

The most difficult leap to make is to make that next jump to the 50+ win, championship level contender.

Youre on the brink and 1 good move can get you there, but one bad move can land you right back in the lottery the next season.

As a Warriors fan. This hurt me to the core.
