Here are the patch release notes.

Exploit fixes:

-Prevent players from entering games with attributes that are raised beyond the level they can reach with the card they are entitled to have. Players who have elevated their attributes this way should reset their character by changing the type and reassigning their points.
-Limit the size of human goalies in OTP/EASHL games to 6'4" (NOTE: it will still allow them to be set larger, but the actual height in game will not go above the new limit).
-Fixed some problems that could cause the game to hang or go out of sync when pausing.
- Prevent use of LB to get up instantly after being knocked over.
-Reduce accuracy of shooting while using vision control to skate backwards.
-Prevent high, accurate slap shots from in close to the net.

Other changes:

-Reduced the ease of beating the goalie on the short side.
-Decrease the tendency of the goalies to use a desperation save unnecessarily.
-Strict calling of interference, though you can still clear players directly in front of the net without getting called for interference.
-Added stick lift to Classic controls using LB+X(XBox) /L1+Square(PS3). It is also on R3 (press Right Stick).
-Fixed shot targeting using the Always Up control when skating down ice.
-Added new NHL rule to locate face- offs in the attacking zone to start a powerplay.
- Prevent CPU players from getting delay of game penalties frequently while clearing the puck from their zone.
- Prevent puck from being poke checked away from the goalie when he has it covered under his glove.
-Reduced the amount of time it takes to get control of the last man back, holding RT(Xbox)/R2(PS3)
-Reduced the amount of time it takes to get control of the goalie, holding LB+A(Xbox)/L1+X(PS3)
-Reduce the range of heights on randomly generated CPU players, including goalies.
-Eliminate the ability to accelerate and maintain high speed while stick lifting.
-More penalties for high sticking when stick lifts are done from behind the opponent.
-Made the colours of the OTP/EASHL indicators more distinct (yellow and orange).
-Made face-off outcomes slightly more random and slightly less dependent on attributes.
-Added assistance to prevent one-timer and shot attempts from leading to accidental hits and interference penalties.
-Goalie tuning to increase goal-scoring a bit to compensate for taking away the easy short-side high goals.
-Improve hit stat tracking to not count all of the small bumps in front of the net.
-Increased injuries caused by CPU teams.
-Prevent puck from being launched with very high speed following a hit.
-AI tuning for superstar. The Aggression slider now affects how intense the CPU team is on that difficulty level.

Thanks for staying on topic with your 3rd post.

One thing that I wish would have been fixed in this patch is the fact that I wish that the top tier players played more like top tier players. I'm on the Penguins and in 48 games Crosby has scored a total of 16 goals. For someone rated 97 (I'm in my 3rd year on BAP) I would expect more scoring and better play. Scoring is no different from my 3rd line to the 1st line; I've even had games where my 3rd line has scored 3-4 goals while the first line was held scoreless.

I've been tweaking some sliders and I like the gameplay I have right now. My biggest issue is shot accuracy and power. I've been going back and forth between acc. and power at 3/4 and 4/5. 3/4 gives me more missed shots which I like but it seems the CPU has a hard time scoring there and it feels like the D-man goal from the point disappears. I'm interested to hear some thoughts and sliders. The other parts of the gameplay seem great, except that the CPU goes WAY overboard with the protect puck feature.

Gentlemen, please stop with the bickering. Thank you...

I've played a few games offline and the CPU is definitely better. I'm getting my butt kicked some games. You really have to bear down and focus much more.

The CPU is getting better quality shots. Frustrating but challenging. You have to keep it fun.

My last 3 games have had an average of 7 or 8 goals total per game. I just lost 6-5 last night and the last time I played that team pre-patch it was 2-1. My goals were scored off rebounds, one-timers, powerplay point shot top corner and a short handed wrist shot fluke goal.

I need to sharpen my D skills or I'm going to miss the playoffs in my franchise at this rate.

I think it's been great post patch, I just need to win again, it's been a few games since I've done that

You made my point in the last post. Thanks, even though he still doesn't get it we can let it go as QB suggested.

I don't know about accuracy, but I don't adjust the power setting because EA has researched how hard each individual shoots the puck (in m.p.h.). I don't adjust accuracy either, but have you maxed out shot blocks, pass interceptions, etc.? I think goaltending may be your issue more than shot power or accuracy. Could be wrong.

Try and some shots not to hammer the left stick all the way to the left or right when you shoot. Sometimes when I really want to get that shot on goal I don't touch the left stick while shooting....usually do this on the PP from the point sometimes....can cause some juicy rebounds.

360 owner here...

Has anyone playing with the patch noticed if the AI screens goalies? I really hate the inability to get my team mates or see the other team screen goalies, especially during power plays.

Did that get tweaked/fixed?

The PS3 version is out. I'm under the assumption that the 360 version will be the same once it get's released for us. So I figured PS3 players already using it could shed some light for me.

Same here. Gah, the MS certification process for this stuff seems unnecessarily lengthy.

One word "Superb" Great fix for this game.

I play on a Div 1 team on the 360 but my thirst for the patch got so crazy I rented the PS3 version just to try it out and, despite the much laggier play, the patch is very successful from what I saw in a couple of OTP and Versus games I played.

Needs to come out on the 360 asap...

Has anyone using the patched PS3 version noticed the fact that there are now far too many penalties being called in 1v1 online games? I like the odd powerplay, but in the games I play in both myself and my opponent are recieving 3-4 penalties per period.

Every now and then I'll have a game where my opponent gets a ton of penalties, but it's usually their fault. For the most part I see on average 5-8 penalties a game for each team.
